ADS Off-Road Racing Shocks - Information, Pictures, & BS Thread

I've had mine for a while and no rust or corrosion anywhere.

 

mine arent rusted either other than from rock chips on the springs

 

The oxidation on mine looks more like aluminum.

 

Mine are good as well. Had them on for 2 months or so and wheeled with them a couple times. Noticed what I thought was rust on the fittings, it was just dirt.

 

Is it worthwhile doing any sort of fluid film product on the shock body or shaft?

No issues with mine so far but I’ve only had them on about 2 months myself as well.

 

Don't put anything on the shaft. If you're that concerned about your shocks, clean them like you clean your truck, then an automotive wax to coat the bodies. Shaft needs to be clean and debris free so that it doesn't damage the seals.

 

I’ve had mine on since the end of March but they have looked like this since about the middle of April.

MD looks hard on shocks. I’m in AZ so we don’t have the road salt issues.

 

I'd contact ADS if they corroded that soon. Whole reason I chose ADS was due to the superior coating.

 

Baltimore can be like living in a cloud sometimes. I usually have dew on my vehicle 300 days out of the year.

 

There hasn't been salt on the roads since I put them on.

 

I doubt they will do anything about it.

 

Worth a shot. Especially considering the price point.

 

It's pretty clear something external has had an influence on the finish of your shocks. If all 4 corners are like that and other members aren't having the same issues cross the board, seems like an isolated issue so contacting ADS might help at least to give some insight on what to do to preserve your equipment. Seems odd considering the track record ADS has for corrosion resistance.

 

I've had mine on for several years, and my truck sits all winter in a ton of snow. They look pretty much like new.

I do spray them down with Boeshield T9 before it sits.

 

Yea. I had Bilstein 5100's on my truck for 3 years and they didn't oxidize, so I'm not sure what the issue is. I emailed ADS before about a different issue and they never replied, so we'll see what happens.

 

Try calling maybe? I called them for a technical spec question and they picked up right away, had to do some more research and later called me back with an answer.

 

Oh yeah if ADS shocks are oxidizing before Billy's do somethings definitely up. I've heard they aren't too great with answering emails (no such thing as a perfect company), but I'd try calling them see what they can do for ya.
