I got a little done but nothing visually pleasing. I’m documenting and getting the wiring tidied up. I did make and install a relayed fuse block and will tie in the seat harness tomorrow.

Good stuff! Will be looking forward to the final result. A shame about the burned out bottom but you can keep using it until a replacement becomes available I guess.

Works kept me slammed and busy. I took off today and finished the wiring up.

I’ll post the pics for those who are curious and update my first post with part numbers too.

I also included a couple pics of the z-brackets I made and welded to the seat rails.

What I’ve done is separated the heated seat cushion wiring harness from the main seat harness. It plugs in so it wasn’t hard I just had to back track all the wiring to be sure.

I ordered the appropriate oem connector and pins from my local Lexus dealer. (My local Toyota dealer sucks and I hate dealing with them/especially the parts guy).

I soldered and heat shrunk everything and put in wiring loom like the factory. When I got the seats I had the junkyard cut the floor harness out for me so I used that.

The only circuit I had to add was a constant power for the power seats. The heated seats tie into the stock Tacoma switches.

The only last thing I need to tidy up is add a pulse width modulator and switch gear to the seat so I can control the ventilation motors and adjust their speed. This will be easy and I can pull power from the heated seat relay source that Is 12v switched and already in the seat.

I bypassed the occupant sensor system with a metal tech kit and it can be turned on or off via a switch if I have a passenger, and the factory air bags including the is-f seats will work as intended.

Here’s a link to the kit:

I actually would have liked a bit sportier seats in mine, my previous car had recaros. Props to you for taking this on

In Japan people made custom bracket for Land Cruiser, Prado, Hilux, FJ ....etc. to have Recaro on their truck. I wish we can have those for Tacoma, 4runner, and Tundra...

    FJ with Recaro...

Damn, I was actually thinking about putting some Recaro Sportster CS in. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way  now to find some brackets...

I take it you couldn't take the seat brackets off the taco seats and modify them to fit?
Are those Z-brackets for the rear holes?
Did the front holes line up with that weird angle of the taco?

I'm sure they'd be all fussy. But it's certainly no different than many other mods that are performed everyday.

But in the end, do it well as the OP seems to be approaching it, and who cares what they think? AFAIK they have no regulatory power over individuals.

    caveat emptor

But I'd be much more likely to buy a truck with this as it's primary mod than one with a drop bracket lift. Or that had lived a number of years in snow country.

I'm intrigued. Good luck.. this is awesome. For the unmechanically inclined, I'd pay good bucks for this done.

Well I’ll be damned...nice work there! I must ask, are you an EE by degree or trade? This is some serious retrofitting that even with my background would be scared to tackle! You’ve got some big cajones, far bigger than mine! Great work! Let us know how it all works, what worked and what didn’t, and how it integrates with your Tacoma! So since your seat power motors require decent current, are you running relays and thicker guage wiring? What’s the current consumption on the power seat motors? I think they are seriously geared so it shouldn’t be much, but where are you pulling your power source for those? And I’m assuming you are fusing them for protection?

Got my seat today. Going to take more modifications than just the back mounts.
Only one front mount lines up perfectly. The other needs to be fabed inward a bit.

Side note - these seats can sit you lower than the stock seats, raise, tilt, etc. And they hug you like a dream.
Going to be a PIA getting installed but can't wait. I'll make a separate post for my install as the OP of this one has gone MIA.
