Attached the PDF for your viewing pleasure for those affected. Please post up your results in this thread when you get the ECU update applied! Seems this could address a common issue folks report where the engine revs with the torque converter locked then surges when it locks, resulting in a big surge in power that feels as though you abruptly floored it.

Can someone clarify “surge”? Between 40 and 50 mine does tiny surges. Feels like a stutter, like it wants to change gears, but nothing like flooring it.

Same here. Have had stuttering since new, and I now have 38k miles on it.

The only thing close to a surge is that sometimes if I floor it and then take foot of pedal, it keeps revving high for a while before dropping off.

If the same as mine, the engine races a bit without any gain in power or speed, as if the transmission is slipping but then grabs. It is fairly quick, but long enough to know something isn't right. Not sure this is what the above posters refer too.

I couldn't really say what gear it was happening between. I assumed it was between 2 & 3, but could easily be between 3 & 4.

Bingo, so helpful. I had the tranny tsb done and that was great. This should fix my last complaint.

i had this tsb applied yesterday and my truck seems to shift better.
when i go uphill it doesnt rattle like a diesel before it decides to down shift.
seems like the shifting point is a little higher as if the etc button is pressed.
i didnt notice engine stutter too. could just be my wild imagination.
    anyone else notice an improvemnt?
im happy with the shifting now and will put off getting the ovtune.

This sounds like what my 2018 was doing. Do we know if the 18's are included to?

if your 2018 has that problem take it in and they will fix it
or you can have them update the software on your next service visit.

I had this T-SB applied this morning, and my truck drives like it should have all along now. One of my biggest irritations was that when merging on the highway, I didn't have enough power unless I floored it and forced a downshift. I got the previous T-SB Rev 1 done, and hardly noticed any change. I've just accepted the crappy acceleration until now.

When I left the dealership and got on the interstate, I actually giggled. I'm a grown-ass man, and I don't even say the word "giggle" often. At least for me, this has been an enormous improvement on one of my biggest pet peeves with an otherwise great truck. Shifts under acceleration are smooth, and power delivery is greatly improved. Gets right up to 80 now with no drama. I'd strongly suggest everyone getting this service done. The difference was night and day for me.

Heading to the dealer in two hours.. Anybody know why there is a 6100 and 7100 file listed for 2018? I'm currently running 6000, so I would assume I get the 6100 update, but does 7100 address the same issues?

I realize im resurrecting an old thread: for those of you experiencing this issue does it surge of power seem so abrupt and forceful that you get caught off guard?

This has happened to me twice now, both in 4th gear and it literally feels as though I'm getting rear ended at cruising speeds. I'm wondering if I'm dealing with this issue or something completely different.
