how many miles to expect from 2008 taco

4.0 v6..synthetic oil change every 5k. I plan on maintaining according to specs if not sooner. this is my first tacoma and just traded a f150 with 173000 on it.
I'll be happy if i get at least 175000, any thoughts?

 

depends on how you use it. highway, 300+ is not unreasonable. If you do a lot of off roading and beat on it, well over 200k sounds about right.

 

95 percent highway and city driving, I also drive the speed limit most of the time...thx for the response...

 

My Neon was perfectly fine at 165000+ miles when I hit a deer. If that hadn't happened I'd be cresting over 200,000 miles now.

I bought it new, did most of my own maintenance, including all of the oil changes and switched to synthetic after the first change.

I see no reason why any modern vehicle shouldn't make it, mechanically, to at least 250,000 miles if it is maintained and repaired when needed.

 

I trust mine will get to 200k+ easy... but I have no evidence or experience with it doing so, yet.

 

They put that in writing somewhere?

 

That is a first gen though and they have been proven to make very high miles with minimal work. The second gens still need to prove themselves.

I hope the quality is up to par with the older models as well. I would hate to see toyota's reputation go downhill.

 

haha ill be lucky if mine stays in tact for any of the numbers mentioned above...

 

Not to start a how amny miles thread, but I have a 2005 SR5 4.0 V6 and to date the biggest issue it has had not self induced was the the from seal on the crank shaft pulley failed at 128,000 miles. I do not offroad it, but hope to get well over 200,000 out of it. I love my truck and have 132,000 on her now, the only thing that would push me to trader her in is a third gen that is just out of this world...
