what's the aluminum plate with 4 holes in it for? nothing in instructions about it....

its for the rear brake equilizer bracket. its just to the left or the rear diff if looking from behind

ultimate lift kit with silver springs.

Started install @ 10am saturday till 5 pm saturday evening. Install wasn't terribly difficult, I had a buddy help who was familiar with what we were doing.

Installing front coilovers, one of us had to stand on the wheel assy to push down to line up the bottom bolt. All went well with rear add-a-leaf. Guessed where the aluminum plate went, as mentioned, no instructions on that part.

Instructions said coilovers were set at 2 - 2 1/2" from the factory. After install the front was way higher than the back. It took some time to crank them down, glad I had help, much easier with someone helping.

My truck sat at 34 1/2" in front to the bottom of the fender flare, ans 36 1/2" to bottom of fender in rear.

Now it sits at 38" front and back.....so how a 3" lift kit, set @ 2 1/2" from the factory, and cranked down to be level...how that gave me 3 1/2" of lift up front and 1 1/2" out back...I don't know.

It rides good, the alignment was not way off, the ride isn't greatly improved but certainly hasn't gotten worse, feels good as new.

Next week....new General Grabber 265/70/16's....just put those on my Xterra..they look good and ride good. I don't think I want the 285's because of price (200 more dollars), the loss of torque and gas mileage, etc. I think it'll look taller with bigger gap between tire fender well too.

and I forgot...I added 1 1/2" all-pro wheel spacers all the way around.

 

My opinion is that you should get 265 75 16 tires. Looks better and not much difference in performance.

 

What size tires are you running now?

I have a question.I wanna add 3 inches to my tacoma whats the best and easiest lift I can put on there but also good in price.Under 500 dolllars.

Folks are more likely to respond with helpful information if you do your homework first and ask questions later.

Bottom line is avoid block lifts and AALs if you can. Expect to pay at least $1000 on a quality lift, depending on what your needs are.

I was running the factory stock bfg rugged trail 265/70/16...and today I put on general grabber at2's 265/75/16....I'll get some new pics as soon as the weather permits.


tarheel, just save up the 500 and then keep saving for the coilover kit...I've been saving for a loooong time now, but I think it was well worth it.
