yeah I've been wanting 33s for awhile but was always afraid of adding even more weight to the wheels, since I like running E rated tires (never once had a flat or needed to swap out a tire in 2 years of running them offroad almost every weekend). They are rough on the street but I like not having to worry about them in remote places.

That said, I've noticed that the 255/85 e rated St Maxx are a few pounds lighter per tire than the 265/75 KO2s I have currently, so I'm convinced to try them out. Hoping they hold up as well as the KO2s have as far as taking a beating.

And of course my other main concern is how bad the rubbing is going to be, but I've never run a skinny tire so maybe that will be to my advantage there as well.

 

I just don't feel like hacking apart the marker light I guess. I also want new ones and don't want to hack brand new lights

 

My Mickey Thompson mtz p3 at 265 75 R16 are the same weight as the ko2's both e rated and size. I recommend the Mickey's amazing on road and offroad

 

I took a road trip to Denver for a bit of overlanding.... blew a cv axle seal and mechanic found a valve cover was cracked.

But that would mean that their 33 inch tire is probably super heavy lol. They do look like good tires though, unfortunately with my truck being my daily still I can't really justify mud terrains. I do wheel a lot but I still see more pavement miles and I wouldn't want to wear down expensive MTs on the street every day.

 

I been using them on the pavement everyday and there holding up fine

 

I cracked mine over the winter, which side cracked? I ended up buying two used ones online even though only one side broke.

 

Agreed and I punctured both the shoulder and tread on 2 different tires. But around 30-40% tread left. Only gripe I have for them was they didn't last and had chunks and cuts in the rubber way to easy. Could been a bad batch of rubber though

This is what I been driving to work. My dadsdford f350 hope it doesn't make me a traitor lol. It's just till I get my new drive shaft

 

Trying to pinpoint my steering shimmy. So today I slid under my truck and grabbed the steering shaft section that connects to the steering rack and twisted it by hand. It moved the tires minimally, maybe 1/8 of an inch, but the steering wheel alot, about 2 1/2 inches each way. Could this be worn out tie rods? Or a rack going out? No knocking anywhere. And Im going to the slip joint mod soon. Any ideas?

 

It was the drivers side. One less thing I have to do

 

Oh yeah don't get me wrong I love my KO2s, they've been great tires and I've had them for 2 sets in a row now. I'm a fanboy and I have no shame lol. Fantastic tires offroad at least where I usually go. Was just thinking of trying something different plus they get pretty pricey in 33"+. Then again the St Maxx aren't much cheaper if at all, but they are lighter.

 

Hmm that's good to know...although the heavy weight of E rated MTs throws me off of them for a daily. Someday though
