What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

These finally came. I get to return the loaners to bds

 

I just made sure the exhaust was cool. Truck only had 200ish miles on it when I did it so not much road debris or tar on the tip. I took a rougher grit sand paper to it to knock off whatever might of been on there.

Cut a few pieces of cardboard out and wedged them inside the undercarriage to where it protected the suspension parts and whatever else I didn't want to get painted.

Then I went at it with the can. Can't remember the time between coats but I followed the instructions on the can. I sprayed it all the way to the big hump that goes over the axle but didn't go past the axle. I didn't want any curb scraper cars seeing a half painted tip.

Used 4 coats. First and second were a little lighter. Third and fourth I put more of a medium coat on. The spray works well for this!

 

Those wheels rock! Where did you get them?

 

SAME HERE!!! So far beat out anything I have ever run.

 

Ugh! My replacement Dakars didn't come with bushings either... had to place an additional order for them (still waiting). Glad I didn't start tearing things apart yet. I'd be pissed!

 

I ended up pressing the OEM bearings out and pressed them into the new Dakars. So far so good

 

Check out Old Coast Road while your down there. It's a little over 17 miles of rough fire road that runs from the north end of Bixby Bridge to Pfeiffer State Park. Heading south on HWY 1 you will take a left as soon as you approach Bixby Bridge. Takes a little over an hour but worth it! You can also travel north on it. The drive north is better IMO. Beautiful redwoods.

 

Installed @kbvoodoo bed rack and mounted everything up

 

They are the TRD beadlock wheels (I just removed the fake beadlock ring). You can get them from your dealer or eBay. They were used on the 2nd gen TRD Pro, Baja, and T|X Tacos. They come in black, gunmetal and bronze.

 

Since last November, about 8k miles. No vibrations or bearing problems. I think over 2 inches of lift is when the problems start.

Jealous, still waiting on mine from a different shop. It's still within the posted 8 - 12 week fabrication time, I'm just getting impatient.

 

on my last truck, I just cut out the cone of the OEM speaker, and mounted the new one in the old one (if that makes any sense)
