I've waited to post this question until after the engine break in period. New truck has been great. However, ever since mile 1, in Neutral, when the AC is on and the engine is hot there is a strange vibration. I know about the DI cleaning cycle but I don't think this is related because this happens all the time. In neutral, the engine idles at ~650rpm, AC kicks on and the idle rises to about ~900rpm. As it rises from 650 to 900rpm there is a strange vibration that 'feels like' there is something out of balance. Kind of a wobble. It peaks in harshness at 900rpm. The AC will then cycle at 900rpm and the idle will go back to ~650 where the 'wobble' will disappear (until the AC kicks on again and the idle rises). Like I say, it is a strange vibration - more like a wobble. Anyone with a MT (or auto) at idle experiencing this? Otherwise, it idles and runs great. TIA/

I believe I have the same thing. Its very slight and only when the ac jumps the idle up but there is definitely something there.

It's the AC compressor cycling on and off. It puts a load on the engine when it turns on.

I understand the load however, IMO, the vibration should not be there. I have another 3.5L toyota (non DI) and you cannot even tell when the AC cycles.

Normal for this vehicle. My wife's highlander has the 3.5 and it is different in it, but normal as well. Pretty sure it is in the "delightfully tacky, yet unrefined" design code for Tacomas.

Totally normal. I compared two trucks on the lot when I bought mine. They both did this. Chalk it up to cushy motor/tranny mounts.
