No commitment required. But would be fun if you can make it. Let me know once you have decided. It will just be me and the two pups driving up so you're welcome to hitch a ride or take your own rig.

Im getting super pumped about this trip too. I'm sure your not the only one haha, I am really hoping Smellmahpoo can finish my sliders before the trip so I can maybe attempt laurel lakes. Also trying to finish my sleeping platform in my bed.

I heard smellmahpoo injured his back pretty badly and was out of commission for a little while. Have you heard an update from him regarding his status?

He is doing better now, but still not 100 percent. Getting his PT in along with trying to catch up on sliders. He posted on his thread the other day.

yea for sure....I think my list is looking like...

Replace hard line on steering rack and or replace steering rack
    Wheel bearings assembly both sides.
New Rotors( that's easy with above )
    Install new fox resi shocks.
install new to me leaf spring pack with AAL installed
    install Roof Rack
    install bed bars and RTT
    Mount CO2 tank in bed
    Install Bed tiedowns.

If I have any time left
    Bed lights and rock lights?

I'll probably wait until 23rd to get started lol

That's not even a ham frequency. So check that the radio you guys have will work with that. The Bao will but some legit HAM equipment won't without mods.

EDIT: after some digging to see what 154.980 is used for I found it's used by CALOES repeaters. Probably shouldn't be using that. You're one tone setting from blasting the whole state.

    caloes_routing.jpg

Not trying to be that HAM guy but you guys should be informed.

I used this because when I went to Johnson Valley all of us used that channel , my buddy said it was the channel Baja uses during the races. Worked fine for us that night

Ya. Race radios are a big problem. The radio vendors are licensed for some frequencies (like 5) and when you buy their equipment you are using their MURS or business radio license. You'll need that permission in writing. Also Baja is not in the U.S. so FCC is not involved down there.

The PDF I pulled that repeater map from has a page dedicated to reporting unauthorized usage.
Take the HAM test and you're good for the rest of your life. And people won't need illegal radios to talk to you.

It really isn't that hard to grab it either. I finally broke down and grabbed my personal use one (using the team's alone was boring). You can probably prep and pass the test in a week.
