It's not a big deal. We use the hand-held beofangs all the time and as long as no one else is on the same frequency, it's not going to matter. It's still a good idea for us to have them if we're on the trail together. I was glad you suggested anyone coming to be sure to get one.

@TacoSauceHB As long as we're just using line of sight communications and not going on a repeater this shouldn't be a problem. I have a HAM license but I know a lot of the guys don't. We have several channels/frequencies that we typically use. We can agree upon the channel we will use as the date gets closer.

Will the less expensive ones work on the trip?

Yes. They should be fine as long as we are within a couple miles of each other.

Also, whats the game plan for the meet up before the trip? Is there a set time and place before we all head out? Or is it just a get up there as fast as you can and yell at the first tacoma you see to find camp lol

I'm hoping to leave on Thursday mid-day and camp in the Bishop area that night. If anyone else can leave on Thursday I would be up for a caravan.

Last year at the San G campsite, I did this exact thing at the first Tacoma I saw pull in....but when I was talking to him, I realized he wasn't with our group and had no idea what the hell I was talking about. I felt like a moron :anonymous:

Yep. He was setting up camp and I walked up to say Hi and introduce myself to him and his wife. They prob thought I was stalking them and I think she even wanted to move sites after that.

That sounds like something I would do. I'd probably start calling out people's TW names and trying to contact them via thread lol

My game plan was to roll out Friday Morning maybe 8-9ish from Thousand Oaks. Likely will be stopping a few times with the spouse/little guy on board. Probably cruise in early afternoon to camp...

Also I've got my big camp stove, I'll be bringing so if anyone want to bring meat products I'm happy to cook it up. Probably will score a bunch of taco meat for said festivities.

sweet! I get off shift around 0700. If my relief can get here earlier then the plan will be to leave San Diego around 0830-0930 at the latest. Ill be bringing misc. meats as well so the stove is a good idea!!! Now i just have to figure out where I'm going to put the keg lol.

Anyone else fishing while were up there? I plan on cookin up some trout if everything goes to plan...
