Conspiracy theory ? Sorry to mention it but if Toyota was supposed to have such an impenetrable ECU and found out someone penetrated it , I would expect they would put a patch in it to correct it . Yes there are only 500 or so tuned trucks , but a breach is a breach and some upper exec may have said PLUG it to fix it ! @OVTune ? I HOPE I AM WRONG !!! Bury this again if you need want to but …. shills only shilling the good ?
My friend is loving the tune and I do not want to cause alarm to anyone and I get it ,but one must be aware if they take a truck in to the dealer they should be aware they may want to request no reflashing be done . My answer would be that my truck has learned my driving and I do not want it to change . I also hope Mat has this all figured out but it is 1 Mat vs Toyota .

Yeah that's a little ridiculous IMHO unless there's more to this (which I hope there is). Last time he was banned I actually thought it was for beating up on a Pro owner which probably warranted it but I could be wrong...

Quick search on his posts and his Hawaii picture was literally the only thing he's posted. So either I'm completely missing a deleted post (possible) where his banning was warranted or he was literally banned from the forum for posting a picture of his vacation in a long, often off-topic 20k+ post thread.

Generally speaking I'm quite fond of how the mods keep this place cleaned up much better than other forums. Adds to the value of this forum without a doubt... so thank you mods.

But, if this guy was literally banned for making a mod joke and posting a beach picture.... hrmmm

Not unhappy with the purchase, I had a employment change and the several months it took to find a new job was holding on to all cashflow. Got a new job and dropped about 4500 into my truck and then had to wait to get it all installed, so it's all coming together, just not as quickly as I wanted. I have no question that I will get it. During my work week I have to work and sleep so the Thursday and Friday's are the only time I can do stuff to my truck. The rdst of the week I get to enjoy the work I did on my days off. I was driving yesterday and saw another nice Tacoma and at stop lights I was telling the guy about OVTune and TW.

 

not to mention he has been very helpful with developing/providing feedback on the tune.... it is a shame he is banned again...

 

I wouldn't think so, they tend to be pretty easy going about that shit. But if you piss off the bear, don't chase it down and poke it once it's moved along.

 

What did I miss ? Why is he banned for posting a pic of the ocean ? I never read or saw what happened the first time .

 

The Clunk!

If you check out the Tacomaworld FB page somebody posted a two minute video of multiple starts and stops showing the clunk. From the response in comments it is a common thing with the Tacoma stock and not a tune issue. I know we’ve talked about it before but I thought it was a good video to see.

 

My cable direct from Tactrix was supposed to arrive last Friday and so far no word from them since reaching out to them yesterday.

If anybody had a change of heart I’ll buy your cable.

 

Not a shill at all my friend. What you need to understand is others will read your theory and perhaps make the same assumption. Next thing there will be a bunch of people freaking out and demanding an explanation, all because they read something which is not based in fact. Chill and let the man work! There have been a few updates done by Toyota since this process started over a year ago, and Mat has dealt with them all. 100% sure this is not some attempt by Toyota to mess with less than 1k of all Tacoma owners!

Edit - Also consider that this new ECU version is for 04B00/01/02/03 trucks only (2016 and 2017 model years) and was issued as a TSB to fix a particular problem. It's normally voluntary. You complain about that symptom, the dealer checks that you actually have it, then the update is applied. How come the '18s didn't get this TSB? Mat tunes them too, so you'd think Toyota would shut that down first right? Things to consider.

I have no idea what else may have happened, but perma for that little jab seems a bit much. Who knows, maybe he insulted some mod's parentage. TBH, there are others on here who are far and away more corrosive and impossible to deal with. I can think of one that got a temp vacation just recently, and that guy spews nothing but venom at anyone who dares post even slightly negative stuff about the 3rd gen. A lot of you will know who I mean. At least Dylon was helpful and contributed to this tune. I'll miss u buddy..
