Not to mention 'Devils Post Pile' , Bodie, Manzanar, Inyo Crater.
Too much to take in just passing thru.
Side trips could include Bristle Cone pine reserve, Aurora Ghost town and gold mine (east of Bodie via rough dirt road)

Gonna be staying in Alpine Village, near Markleeville. Anyone have some info on trails nearby? Some good fishing holes off the beaten path?

Some consider that whole area 'off the beaten path'.

Should be trout in most of the streams up there :
    W. Fk. Carson
    Hot Springs Creek

Blue Lakes, Indian Creek Res. are nearby.

There are some fun dirt trails nearby in Hope Valley.
One easy one goes from Red Lake, south to Upper blue lake.
Used to be a small glacier up there, just to the east of the trail.
Here is a photo from about 10 years ago:

I'm cooking some up tomorrow with some fresh mango salsa and Margaritas. Wife told me today that's her request for tomorrow. As she wants to try a new mango salsa recipe. I am a sucker for fish tacos .

Haven't been there in a few years.
    Why is it closed?
Is it the road in or just the camp area?
