i love my ATZ PLUS tires! they grip pretty well off-road and are very well manured on the highway! only have 5000 klm on them but the wear looks great at this point! only time will tell though i suppose .

I have had my ATZs.. (not the plus) for about 1200 miles now... I have gotten used to the road noise for the most part but everyone who gets in the truck notices it... They do ride good and handle well... off road they are awesome for an AT.

Would I buy them again? NO... the road noise is a deal killer for highway use.

I would sell these to someone local for $175 each....

I got mime a couple of weeks ago (285/70/17) and I love them! I don't believe that they are noisy for the type of tread...I would recommend them.

I had bf-mud terrain's before the atz-plus'zzzz so they are silent in comparison. those mt were the worst on the highway no grip and so loud you could hardly hear the engine. lol

If you have to play Metallica at high volume to not hear the tires humming/ screaming then they are too loud... I loved the looks of the Cooper Discoverer STTs, but would never get them again. I was considering the Baja ATZs as they 'looked' like a quiet tread pattern... I am very happy that some can be honest enough to say if they hear the tires over any other 'normal' truck sounds. I took the Rugged Trails to Mision Santa Maria last Saturday (first time for that tire, third time in a Tacoma) and they were flawless in rocks, sand and deep water/ mud driving... I don't get the 'Rugged Fails' nick name at all...???

    My STTs in 2007:

Dont get me wrong, I can hear them. But they're not loud enough to 1) bother me 2) my music at normal levels covers up the sound 3) I expected them to be a little louder than my stock tires, even at 80mph my tire noise and wind noise and exhaust noise are all about the same, and isn't bad in the least. I have to actively listen for the noise otherwise I forget its there.

I believe you... and I know people who live near airports who no longer notice a 747 landing over their home!

Seriously, it is what you want and that is fine... I am just happy that if there is a loud hum from any tire, people will honestly say so... That way those of us who like quieter tires won't be bummed. :D

well i didnt build my truck to be quite and they do have noise but these tires will sound like a economy car compared to my next ones that i will be getting. but if you want good tires offroad you will have to deal with noise, and if you dont like it keep your street tires.

I hope if you are "building" a truck for offroad you are not selecting an All Terrain tire for offroad performance. The ATZ is advertised as an all terrain tire. Not a mud tire or hard core offroad tire. I have had 4x4s and trucks for 30 years and I have owned many differnt brands and tread patterns from very street friendly Revos to Super Swampers and buck shot mudders... As far at AT tres go the MT ATZs (not the plus) are the loudest AT tire I have ever heard. They are super quiet compared to the 35" Pro Comp Muds on my Bronco but are screaming loud compared to the Revos on the F150 I just sold. They are significantly louder then the BFG ATs of similar size but quieter than the BFG Muds.

My point is that I was buying an AT tire... if I had wanted this much noise I could have gone with a mud tire. They are not so bad I hate them.... but if I knew what I know now I would have went a different direction.

Probably Nitto TGs or BFGs... maybe even another set of Revos which were awesome on my F150.

    the plus's are a better AT-tire imo.
they do pretty damn good offroad and are nearly unherd on the highway

I'm sure the ATZ is one of the loudest AT's made as you said, but that could also be because they are the most aggressive AT's made. Comparing them to revo's isn't really fair.

x2, they are very aggressive and i believe they are the best AT for offroad because of there design, so loud, yes they are but you buy them for their use and performance not the noise level. and yes i did build my truck for offroad fun but i have used these tires and not once had a problem with traction going through everything that my buddys go through and more with their swampers and pro comps.
