It's not a recall though. Everything you need to know is in the TSB.

TSBs are voluntary.. ie you have the symptom, you complain to the dealer, they verify you qualify and then flash your truck.

But you are stuck with their tune at that point until you release 1.05, correct?

As someone that just purchased OVTune (havent received registry file yet), does this TSB close the gap between stock and OVTune as far as shifting and low end torque?

Been rocking the 1.04 87 octane tune for about 1,000 miles- very happy. While it hasn’t really improved MPG for me, it has greatly improved the insane RPM jump when going up hills/passing. I do have a couple of questions:
    1) Is there a way to flash back to the stock tune if I need to utilize my warranty? I only got the 87 and 93 tunes emailed.
    2) For those running the 93, what differences have you noticed between the 87 and 93? I’ve been following this thread for awhile, and haven’t really seen a write-up on the difference.

I’m not sure why everyone is getting all excited about this TSB. If OVT didn’t exist then yeah I get it. But when the good stuff will be added to the upcoming tune and you get the extra OVT sprinkles, why would you want to go out and get the TSB? Just bored and want something new?

I think people are just wanting to have everything squared up with the dealer so they can avoid any issues down the road.

Dingel5 a few pages back has a review on it. He says it's better than before but it's still not even close to OVTune. He said it will make you appreciate having the tune. Now the poor bastard has to drive toyotas tune until 1.05 drops.

Since 1.05 will incorporate the 04B04 changes , will this mean if someone tries the 1.05 , will they be able to go back to the 1.04 tune or will they have to stay with the 1.05 ? If I remember right , the 1.05 was to be more of a power tune and the 1.04 was more for better mpg's .
Will Toyota would be putting the 04B04 on all new trucks made ? Is there someone out there with a new 18 built after the new TSB came out to check what version they have from the factory? @OVTune ? I feel for Mat as I felt the 87 1.04 tune with 87 Octane would be a go to tune for the gas conscious , and the 1.05 was going to be for the power cravers . One thing for sure is the tune is continuing to evolve for the better .

At some point pretune they flashed mine to a 04B03 without my knowledge or without putting a sticker on the truck. You can always just blame it on a bad service department.

If you're referring to the OBD dongle/USB cable that will be used to flash your truck with OVtune files, then yes.

I've done lots of logging etc with that combination and it works perfect.

I bet the numbering system is different depending on which “version” of the tune you select on the website.
