1500 miles from TX to PA. The POS trailer better hold up!

I used one of those to move. Fully loaded and I didn't even know it was there. You'll be fine.

Truck will be fine but I won't bet on the uhaul. Check the tires before you leave.

Forgot, check the lights and the wiring harness that runs to the truck. I've had uhaul trailers cause problems for the tow vehicle because of shorted wiring on the trailer

The tongue is my concern. They say load the front heavy. Well I did. I am packing all my crap in there and it's def going to be pushing max capacity. You see what the weight did to those milk crates lol. I got out the spare jack to hold it up and be able to actually get it on my hitch.

If you know what the trailer weight is the tongue weight should be 10-15% of the trailer weight.

U-Haul trailers are severe-duty grade. They see slot of abuse and hold up. Check tires and load your payload 60/40. You want atleast 10-15% weight of trailer weight on the tongue.

What'd the trailer run you to rent? I'm seeing 204 what seems like every 3 days worth of renting. Debating on using my move as an excuse to "invest" in my own :anonymous:

Question is how many inches are you dropping from no load ?
That only looks like a couple of inches to me.

It was fair price. Total with tax 271$. That includes 5 days. They threw in an extra day cuz it wasn't available at my preferred pickup location. Also I played around with my destination city on the quote online, and found a few "flexible" rates that saved me about 60$. Basically they discounted it if I took it to certain bigger city's. I thought about investing in one as well, for something like this they run approx 3k

Meh, I used to work at U-Haul in college. The tires are checked after every rental, and if they even look bad whatsoever we’d put new tires on them.

Maybe that's was the case where you worked but Uhaul tends to rent some pretty questionable trailers and trucks. I use to own a repair business and every summer we would get people coming through town with separated tires, bad bearing and lights not working. They always seem to do a quick visual but the more indepth maintenance doesn't seem to happen.

Those milk crates are closer to the load than the ball will be, meaning there is more than the 10-15% on them. The red one probably has about 25-40%.

You should be fine, just keep in mind you have no mechanical sway or LB capability. The last one of these I saw up close had thrust brakes, so that will feel different. You also won't be able to back it up a hill.

Not good. I was on UhaulWorld for a while, a couple times a week you'd see new members with stories about how the trailers are junk, no details around the issue, no pics showing the problem, and a long story around why they can't get help from UHaul, or why the Uhaul is wrong to deny covering the problems.

    And moving totally sucks!
