Right on, then there's really no need to get it done by the dealer. Mat has to dissect the changes in OEM 04B04, so that his future releases will be compatible with it as well as the other (older) OEM code. Additionally, there will probably be some good stuff in there that he can use to enhance our trucks even further.

You guys need to remember that Mat's tunes don't change every bit of code that's in the ECU as it pertains to the drivetrain. I liken it to this - you have a device driver installed on your computer that works with Microscrap (Toyota) operating system 04B03. Microscrap decides to update their operating system to 04B04 and doesn't really give a crap about your device driver. Well, is your device driver still valid if YOU decide to click on that update button? The vendor (Mat) who created the device driver will need make sure of that and update as necessary.

I know you keyboard warriors will be all over me for over-simplifying your IT BS, but whatever.. just trying to clarify things as simply as possible

Trust me. What he ^^^ .just said. As I said before, DO NOT get this update unless you want to be stuck with the old crappy Toyota stock tune. If you are on 1.03, 1.04 or are waiting on OVTune for your files stay where you are. Sure they did something with the torque converter or something, but what they did doesn’t compare to what you get with the OVTune. JUST DON’T DO IT!!!!!

I’m ready for 1.05 power but that is a good question about going back to 1.04.

Just as long as I don’t start getting over the air updates and can’t drive my truck until it finishes installing updates. I fear the day someone decides that’s a genius idea

Yes. You can flash back to the factory tune. If you don't have the file Matt can email it to you. However, there really is no reason to do this. Unless the dealer specifically looks for the tune they don't even know it there.

I difference between the 87 and 91 tunes is top-end power - I believe 3700 rpm and above. It's fairly significant too. I ran the 91 tune for a bit but Usually I drive to try and squeeze out a bit more MPG so I was never really utilizing the benefits of the 91 tune. I dropped back to 87 and have been happy there. So idle to 3700 RPM the tunes are the same.

Did you flash your TCM too? That makes a nice change to the drivability of the truck as well.

I've been swamped with work and child, but I have some time to update my truck from 1.02(b?) and I'm having trouble downloading the Toyota Flash Manager on OVTunes instruction page. It's taking to me to a "page not found" -type page.

    What am I doing wrong?

Have you trie to download it from the "shopify.com" link that's posted in the dongless instructions that's in the first post of this thread?

Well, I have the dongle, and I can't seem to find the dongle version instructions.

I bought this probably 6-7 months ago, and I see everything has changed quite a bit since that time, so I really have no idea where to begin, and I don't have time to ready 1k pages unfortunately.

I think I recall reading somewhere that you have to email matt and he will get you switched over with a registry key, in which case you would download the dongless flash manager. Maybe someone who started with a dongle can be of more help than I. I got mine at 1.04.

So for those who don’t have the tune yet, will getting this new ECU “TSB” update from Toyota hamper the availability to get the tune later on? @OVTune

Thanks for responding! I totally misspoke calling it the 93 tune. I think I just flashed the TCU, I literally followed the step-by-step instructions that Mat gave. Guess I need to look into how to do that. This stuff has me out of my element haha

If you get the TSB update from Toyota, you wont be able to get the tune until Mat is done with 1.05. If you dont get the TSB then you can flash 1.04 (current version) now and drive that until 1.05 is available. BUT your ECU needs to be 04B03 (TSB 0077-16 rev1) in order to flash 1.04.

Which makes me wonder if you can still get 04B03 from Toyota and not jump up to 04B04? Not sure on that one. We're sort of in a ECU limbo here. We just need to let the dust settle and see what our Savior Mat has for us

You can also be on 04B02 to flash 1.04. Just need to make sure you use the right files from file manager.
