2018 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4 Sport with V6 - Anyone having a vibration you can feel in the steering wheel and floor board when braking? Vibration starts at about 30 mph. Truck has about 1,500 miles on it. Took to dealership and they recognize the problem but don’t know how to fix it. They drove 2 new 4 wheel drive trucks on the lot and they do the same thing. Dealership called Toyota and they said they haven’t had any complains. I said you’re got to be kidding! Dealership has been super nice and told me to file a complaint with Toyota which I have. Anyone know a fix for this. I have not modified the truck in anyway.

Yes, only when braking. Dealership called me a week or so back and ask if I’d bring the truck in that Toyota wanted them to check and also take some measurements from my truck. This is probably because I filed the complaint. Anyway they gave me a loaner for the day and checked some things and took measurements for Toyota. I haven’t heard anything back. They said new 4x4 Tacoma’s on the lot do the same thing. Service Manager drove 2 of them and they vibrated too.

My 18 SR5 does this too. I don't notice it all the time, though. Around 2000 miles on mine, hoping things are just seating, but that's probably wishful thinking.

I’ve noticed it a little on my 2017 when braking lightly from highway speed, but was waiting for my 10k service in two weeks to say anything. I live on a dirt road so I figured it was just crud in the wheel or something.

    My friends,
I advise you to complain to your dealership about this now or when you take it in for service. I raised cane at my dealership about it and they whole heartedly agreed with me that it’s a problem but don’t know what to fix until the Toyota engineers tell them how to fix. I strongly recommend you elevated this to your regional Toyota. File a complaint as I did so we can get Toyota to apply resources to solving this problem. Filing the complaint was very easy, they assign a case manager to the complaint and they are to monitor the progress. Remember there are strength in numbers.

One more thing to add about this vibration is there ails a TBS 0023 - 18 out there that came out on April 18, 2018 which says there is “rear vibration or noise while braking”. My truck was made after this TBS so they said it didn’t apply to mine. The bulletin is for 2017-2018 Tacoma’s. It states that vehicles may exhibit a noise or vibration from the rear at low speeds or while braking. The condition could be caused by excessive clearance between the brake drum and axle drum flange. The repair is to replace the axles. The repair is covered under Toyota Powertrain warranty for 60K miles or 60 months. I will tell you that I had an honest discussion with a mechanic who had done one of these repairs of replacing the axles and the vibration was still present afterwards.

Anyone with a 2017 - 2018 4 x 4 having this vibration in steering wheel when braking. Starts at about 30-40 mph.

Took truck to dealership, they turned the rotors and balanced all 4 tires.
Vibration is still there! Crap! Guess I’ll have to wait for TSB or get tired of it and trade it off.

Did they put new pads? I have heard of teh same vibration normally associated with warped rotors being caused the pads.

Try braking aggressively without skidding from about 60mph to almost complete stop and let go. I took a lot of vibration from mine

Mine vibrates braking or not. It is almost like the truck grew huge knobby tires in the front all of a sudden
