Me and Dad were talking and turned into how much money I spent on the truck. He figured it all out and I just:lalala:i don't care about my build cost. There's people who spend more money on VW beetle builds lol

Check out ECGS (East Coast Gear Supply), they seem to be the #1 go to for gear sets on the forum these days.

Finished the valve cover gasket replacement project. Wow, took 4 days. Now, on to the timing belt replacement project. Unfortunately, I noticed that my brand new outer CV boot on the driver side is already torn again. :(

Is the 5VZE known to burn a little oil in between changes? Started noticing a little while back that I'm burning through a half quart to 3/4 quart every 7000 miles or so. I do full synthetic changes about that often. Wondering if maybe I need to look into valve cover gaskets though I haven't noticed any visual leaks.

If it’s normal or not I do not know.

Yeah I remember my old Scion did it too about when it hit the 100k mark, though I'm not anywhere near that with this truck yet (67k). Guess I'll just keep an eye on it for now and see if it gets worse or if I can spot any leaks.

    Thanks! I'll check them out

I do my oil changes ever 6K-8K mi, I always check the oil level before changing also, I haven't notice burning oil, definitely not 1/2 qt anyway. I use synthetic also, 10w-30. I've got 214K mi now. Coming up on the next change soon, I'll check again.

The LED install was just some Sylvania 921 lights. I discovered the ass hat that owned the truck before me broke one of the tabs on the light so I glued it back on.
The panavise, and hose clamp pics tomorrow. I bought the wrong size keyed clamp and went with what I have at the house. You need at least 1.5 inch. LOL.

I have the same truck in an '02. I went with 4.88s Nitros. Sometimes now I wish I had opted for 5.29s. I would be a very unhappy camper if I had chosen 4.56s.

I had it done by Just Differentials in Cashmere, Wa. Excellent work and outstanding service.

I have 180K and never use any oil between changes. Typically 7-8K intervals.

Yeah less than a quart is okay, SC is high crank case pressure and may burn more than normal too

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Some of us in the 209 area are headed up to the hills on Sunday the 22nd. Just a day trip/meet up. You should check it out. No real "wheeling" but you could get your tires dirty at least.
