I got pulled over in Houston mesa near payson for having too dark of tint. He gave me a slip and said to get it taken care of but there's no court or anything so I'm guessing just a warning. Well I drove with my windows down most of the time and now my interior is dusty. : /

DPS is hammering us Valley folks on the stretch. Check your papers. It should say "warning/repair order" on it. Otherwise it'll say "traffic ticket/complaint". A close friend of mine got stopped on that section of highway and was actually issued a $125 ticket for his limo tint. But yeah...check your paperwork.

It's a horizontal 3"x8". I think it says repair order. Do I send it in? I don't want to strip my windows. And it was way into this road, not in town or anything. That kinda bugged me.

Georgia State Patrol got me at a road block and made me roll my windows up so he could check em. Gave me a $130 ticket for em.

Technically you have to strip and re-tint, take the repair order and your truck to the closest DPS substation or meet with an officer and have them inspect your truck and sign your repair order. Then mail it in. I've issued many repair orders and have yet to inspect any of them that I've issued. I've completed a few inspections on repair orders and signed off on them, but for the most part (unofficially and off the record) most people don't do a thing. The trick is not to get stopped by the same Officer that issued you the original repair order. You may get a ticket that time.

That sucks... my 'new' car has limo tint and I'm just waiting to get pulled over for it lol (hopefully I won't forget to watch my speed and be doing 90 when it happens). TBH I don't know why people really like limo tint to start with... it kinda bugs me and makes it harder to focus on the side mirrors and such, at least for me.

Texas cops, ugh. Boss Hog looking ashhole stopped me in Paris, Texas many years back claiming the air compressor I was towing was a trailer and needed a license plate. I tried arguing until he pulled a freakin' gun on me. I tried to complain to city hall but they simply said "he's the sheriff, he can do what he wants".

In other words, if he says do it, do it I guess...

Why is it ok for the cops in this state to go dark while the rest of us cannot?

Maybe its an age thing but I don't get why anyone would "black out" their windows anyway, I see alot of vehicles driving around with tinting so Goddamned dark that you know its a safety issue & what are ya hiding from anyway behind such extreme tint ?? & yeah the sun beats down just as hard here as it does there, so the "shading from the sun" argument doesn't wash guys, whats really up ?.....:D

Well the million times I've been pulled over here in the valley, no one minds or says anything about my tint. I most likely won't see that cop anymore as I don't go to payson often. So should I just leave it? I see there's a space that Asks for my signature and he wrote in, "served"

With all the people who get fix-it orders, tickets, and spend their time worrying about getting pulled over, wouldn't it be more productive to put legal tint on your vehicle and spend your time and effort organizing a campaign to get the law changed?

If you really think it should be changed, then go use the democratic process.

Because that's the way the law is written??

Main reasoning behind it is so police can see motion and actions inside of a car during a traffic stop- so none of the occupants shoot the officer during the stop.
Not to mention the science behind visual acuity and light limiting lenses (like tint). That would be a great arugment for no tint for anyone. But police spend 12 hours at a go in their cars after significant amounts of training. Whereas Joe Blow who buys his new (insert car) and gets limo tint all around it because it looks dope is not always the same level of driver. But I would go more on reason 1 than 2...cause like I said- #2 would dictate that no one use tint...

While I agree with most of that... I could argue the 'same level of driver' bit that Joe Blow will probably drive better than the majority of the police. No offense Pinal :p

Well I like the tint because believe it or not, it's cooler in my truck with it and I can see perfectly out so it's not a safety hazard, for me at least. And like I said, I haven't ever been pulled over for my tint here in the valley. I think the dude just wanted to check out my truck. :p

I agree...but the limits on this state are a bit much. It is sunny 24 hours a day here and a darker tint helps.

My tint is "legal" because my once perfect vision is waning.

I think the tint is so they can eat their dozen donuts in secrecy. :D

I say tint it if you want but if you get ticketed then you must abide by the law. And until then, my limo will stay on. I only have 3 tinted windows anyway.ha

Maybe they will start pushing the tint law now that everyone in the state can pack a weapon legally!! I LOVE Arizona!
