Well, stayed up past 2300L ... wide awake at 0100L. :frusty:
I gotta get off midshifts ... not being able to sleep through the night on days off is really starting to aggravate me.
I hope I can complete the boss manipulation to get myself moved to swing shift in the next couple months.
    :fingerscrossed:

    Poor Daddy :boink:
... you know we will always love you. <3 Andy :fistbump:

    When is it not?

    See? Buck gets it.

Hi there my fellow mid shifter. :hattip:

Solid plan ... the fickle bitch won't hesitate to kill you given a chance. Stay safe.

    I DO feel your pain!

It's going to mean the loss of my 20% shift differential (ouch), but it looks I should be moving to DAYS here in the next few weeks. I am SO stoked! :yay:

    Mmm... Fresh clams...

One of the sucky things about living in Colorado, the seafood (and the pizza, oddly enough) all sucks pretty badly.

20% ... wow! Mine is only 10%, but I think I can add a second Sunday shift every pay period (25% Sunday Premium); that almost makes up the difference going to 44 hrs swingshift 7.5% diff vs midshift 10% diff for 72 hrs. I'll only lose about $40 a pay period ($80 a month); vs almost $300 a month without working all the Sundays.
I'm looking to go from Sunday/Monday every other Saturday off ... to Monday/Tuesday every other Wednesday off. $80 a month we can absorb ... $300 a month we could absorb, but don't want to.

Yeah, they're pretty generous pay wise to us night folks - but for that we have to work 6p-6a Weds - Sat. Getting of work at 6am on Sunday really does a number on your family life, lemme tell ya!

The good side to all of this is timing, though. Raises just came out and while mine was small (that's typical here), I also got my "career progression" which will put me in a new pay band at least. Sometimes those'll come with a raise as well, but I won't know that 'til the 20th or so.

    Isn't it though?

The "wood fired" pizzas around here can be decent, but I like a good NY style pizza. Those are IMPOSSIBLE to get here. The closest I can get to that is at Costco believe it or not, their food court pepperoni pizza is actually pretty decent.

I really have nothing to complain about...just protecting my Grumpy Old Bastard reputation. My active duty retirement allows me to remain a worker bee and avoid the management headaches. If I didn't hunt, fish, and buy new vehicles for my wife, I, and now our oldest son after his marriage imploded last Summer, I could be a couch potato and still cover the house and basic bills ... but that would likely put me in an early grave as well so...

CostCo does indeed make a very decent pizza; especially at their price point. Do you have Papa Murphy's Take-N-Bake there. We like them as well. My favorite will always be my wife's homemade pizza with Mooseburger/Moose Italian sausage/Moose Pepperoni plus the veggies (green pepper/mushroom/black olive mainly). But that requires a bit of work, so we only seem to make it when the kids come over ... for the two of us alone, pizza is a convenience food when we don't feel like doing all the work. ;)

We're in kind of similar circumstances here. We paid off the house back in August, the only other debt we have is my truck. As long as one of us is working anything that gives us health insurance we're fine.

Toy and travel money is always good though!

We do have Papa Murphy's here, but pizza's lazy food for us. :D

There's a chain called Old Chicago's out here that has some pretty decent pies, but they're really spendy, like $28 for a large-size spendy.

I refuse to lie down and die ... my 77 yo MIL (and her 79 yo husband) tell me the secret is just keep going ... don't stop moving ... have something to do/a purpose to go to. It seems to be working for her and him. She's a 5 year cancer survivor and still going strong, so I'm not denying what's right in front of me.

We'll pay off the house here in a couple years. Then I want to convince my wife we should buy a Mobile Home in a 55+ community in PHX to spend time near the grandkids when we can. Her probably more than I. I'll milk this civil service gig as long as I can. :)

That is spendy ... but that seems the trend anymore. My last truck purchase was a bargain at $39K ... I just looked at a similar 2019 model on display at the Bear Paw Festival Friday ... $69K sticker, on a half-ton pickup  WTF!

EDIT: On review it occurs to me that until 4 yrs ago, the most I'd ever spent on any vehicle was $21K, and that was my 2007 Tacoma in 2010 as an active duty retirement gift to myself. Every year now car prices (and everything else for that matter) seem to increase at exponentially shocking rates. Not sure what I'm getting at, but it gnaws at my gut a little ... worrisome. :notsure:

We'll eventually cash out and move, or not. We have a nice place, our neighbors are cool, and I mean hell - it's Colorado, right?

Absolutely! That's why I'll keep working and stay here/snowbird in PHX eventually (only because son/grandkids are there). I live where I want to fish and hunt, I don't need to retire in order to move to where I want to spend my waning years. I just gotta get off the midshift grind...'cuz sleep matters. :cookiemonster:

Same here, just getting too old to work off-shift like this. My health has taken a fairly decent beating from never sleeping right, it'll be nice getting to sleep at night again!
