I am assuming you mean the 6.9 IDI, although the 7.3 originally was a bored out 6.9.

It really comes down to all diesel motors are good as long as they are properly maintained.

2010 powerstroke is the way to go. the get the best fuel economy and make the most power.

i had a 2009 gas f250 and it was a beast but the powerstroke would be the best bet for ur money.

plus the turbo sounds sick wen u strait pipe it.

My friend had a 05 with the 6.0L in it. He put a banks kit on it at about 5000 mile and 500 later the head bults snaped and the heads lifted off the block. Ford replaced it and then he only put the exhaust and tuner in it and made another 2000 miles or so and thehead gasket blew. Ford fixed it again and he left it stock. He also had 3 trannys in it before he traded it in at 50000 mile. What a piece of shit. The 7.3L on the other hand are a pritty damn good motor.

Duramax. Can never go wrong with the D-Max/Allison combo. Duramax's are power monster's, and the Allison shifts like a dream. Cummins are legit motors probaly the best out of the trio, but behind them are terrible transmissions, and if you don't have the money to beef it up, your going run into problems quick with any power mods. Same with the Ford transmissions. 6.0 liter powerstrokes are absolute garbage. Yesterday, my friends has one, and blew his turbo... while coasting downhill... But they do sound the best. 7.3. Workhorse all day though. 6.4's are good motors, but again, tranny, and I'm waiting to see what the 6.7 is capable of. Go Duramax. LBZ or LMM.

x2 Very true, the cummins is a incerdible engine but the tranny is tinfoil. The allison is a bulletproof tranny

I owned a 05 cummins before my taco. Two of the injectors got stuck open and messed up the piston and it went through oil like no other. The dealer said I needed a new engine and so did everyone else I talked to. So I traded it in for a taco lol. I'm not saying cummins are bad, they are the best engine out there. I just had bad luck with them and got screwed in the process. If I was to buy a diesel again it would be a cummins hands down, but only the 6 speed manual. The auto trans sucks and mine was shot when the engine blew.

Cummins all the way! I had a 99 2500 CTD before this taco. That thing hauled ass, and could tow a house down. Problem was, just like above, Dodge is junk! Quality of everything but that engine just sucked.

Even with that said, another CTD will be in my future.

That's not your logic. That's the bumper sticker of every Dodge Tech head out there.

All I know is our ambulances are 7.3L displacement and they're pretty solid motors. But that 7.9L we had could pull an Abrams M1.

Just selecting on motor alone, I would go with the cummins. BUTTTTT Dodge is utter shit. I would love to have the ford with a cummins and an allison trans.
