I took my TRD shift knob apart (see 2nd photo) and painted the gray panel red using Krylon spray paint.

At first I thought this was my Interior. Until I saw that the seats were different. Haha. Did this mod about two years ago and I love it. adds a beautiful touch. Now you need to do the total blackout mods that @rrentrop makes for the interior. Check out my post here of my interior. Post #432

The cupholder inserts are Tufskinz products. They have adhesive but for the qi charger I left the backing on and just pull it out when I use the charger. BTW, the cup is a 32oz Yeti and it fits perfectly without rattling and comes in several colors that appear to match the Tacoma colors.

To remove the knob twist the chrome ring at the base counterclockwise while pulling down. Then unscrew the knob. When removing the gray panel to paint it, best start at base with a screwdriver and work up both sides.
I knew I couldn't be the 1st to try this, but searched TW and didn't see anyone else posting in the idea. I'll check the blackout mods link you provided. Thanks!

Nice, Welcome to TW. That reminds me of the user here who really likes his inferno.

@Coastghoast11 did this to his. It had mixed reviews...
