Nah I was deployed when the recall came out and then they relocated me right as I returned so I'm just now getting settled enough to take it in. They did it this morning for the first time.

It's not you Devin because I have a 2018 off road with around 600 miles on the clock and i am experiencing the same inconsistency as you described. I have been driving manuals for over 45 years and this one is definitely different than anything else I have driven. At first I thought it was a mis-adjusted clutch because I can feel a very slight lurch at times when going into 1st from a stop with the clutch fully depressed. This tells me the disc is not fully disengaging but I don't know if it's normal for this vehicle or not. This might also explain why 1st is hard to engage at a stop light intermittently. 2 - 3 shifts can be a bit chunky at times and changing the RPM's doesn't provide consistent results. I love the truck and none of this is a deal breaker (yet). My driving style is not aggressive and mostly consists of 40-45 city driving. I tend to keep my vehicles a long time and don't want to end up with an out of warranty trans and/or clutch repair.

It definitely has an attitude that has to be tamed every day. In my opinion it is just as difficult to make a smooth transition as a tractor trailer.

Not a vehicle to learn to drive a manual transmission in.

I’ve been driving for 32 years and almost a million miles, many of those manuals.

I’ll say the MT Tacoma is the easiest manual I’ve ever driven. It really reminds me of the shitty vehicles I must have had in the past.

It took some getting used to coming from a MT Civic, but it's second nature going through the gears smoothly after 1800 miles of driving it.

The state is going to start requiring a CDL with a Taco endorsement in order to drive these things ;)

My old 1999 MT civic was great, I should have kept it. Although, I find many manual car gearboxes way too tight meaning the gears are not clearly defined, too easy to go from 1-2-3 then 2nd because your hunting for gears.

Last week I drove a friend’s 2006 Corolla MT and it was a chore. The clutch travel was literally about 3” but if you let it out too fast you would stall. If I let it out too slow the engine would rev way out.

Plus, I really think he needed to change the trans fluid because I had to slam it into gear it was way tight of a gear box.

Seriously, I had no idea how he drives the thing. Actually, he doesn’t it’s a third vehicle that sits most of the time. He has all autos!

Zero problems driving mine. One of the easiest manuals I have owned or driven. Some of you guys need to drive a three speed on the column with no syncros lol.

I'm still commuting in my '97 Civic to save the mileage for road trips in the Taco. The Civic goes through gears like butter.

    They’re great high 30 almost 40mpg.

It’s stupid that hybrid vehicles like the 3rd Gen Prius get 45mpg highway.

We’ve gone nowhere in 40 years with mpg.

I know, right? Too bad the original Honda Insight was discontinued. I used to commute in one with a MT, it got 75mpg on the highway. Today's hybrids are a joke.

Yeah, too good of gas mileage for the oil/gas companies.

People often forget that the original GM Volt was scrapped back in the day. They actually produced a shit ton of cars then recalled them and crushed them all. Someone at an oil company didn’t like that shit.

But to stay on topic, those were autos not MT

If memory serves me that Electric GM Car was an EV1 and then never sold any, they were all leases that GM expected back for data acquisition and then destroyed.

Correct, if I am not mistaken I think they had the program for 4 or 5 years and only leased about 1100 total in that time frame.

Yep Honda did that and Toyota is doing it on the fuel cell Cali cars. When Autonomous vehicles are ready it will be the same. Lease then return for data.
