Hey guys, I designed custom front bump stops for 1st gen Tacoma's that replace the OEM bump stop. They have proven to do very well at eliminating hard bottom outs. I have had a lot of interest by 2nd gen guys asking when I will be making a 2nd gen bump stop. I am now working on a new design for the 2nd gen Tacoma's and need a little input.

    1. what is the average lift guys a running?

    2. why are there spacers offered for the wheelers front bump stops? what need is there for adjust-ability. I cant figure that out. we are either running stock length shocks or +1" mid travel. seems to me that the same size bump stop would be used for either suspension set-up.

    3. What do you think of my prototype?

This particular prototype is dual durometer rubber. It has a 3/16" steel base with a firm rubber mid-body and a soft rubber on top to deaden the initial contact during compression. This bump stop is 3/4" taller than OEM but will collapse to the same height as OEM under high compression before ultimately bottoming out.

Thanks for any thoughts and input!

That setup is a spacer correct? Still using the OEM bump stop?

You specifically would benefit significantly by running a set of my bump stops. Opposed to the metal spacer and OEM bump stop. My design is two different compound rubbers that can absorb and compress over 3/4". The OEM bump stops compress about 1/4". When making hard contact on my bump stops the truck isn't thrown back into the air from hitting the hard OEM bump stop.

    Thanks for the reply!

Yes!!! They will work very well.

One more question for you if I could. Have you ever looked to see how much travel your shock has remaining when your LCA is on the oem Bump stop. I would suspect you have another 1" of up travel at least.

For reference, here is a superbump on my stock TRD OR 2nd gen. This is without a spacer. It is already touching the arm but it is soft enough to not really do anything until it squishes a lot more. It is progressive and feels great, firm and smooth. I've ordered some king coilovers and will be setting them to lift a small amount, maybe 1''. I don't know how or why the spacers would be needed on a second gen with stock lower control arms.
If you make some bumpstops, please under-size the hole that the bolt goes through, so that the bumpstop can be threaded on by hand 99%, then finished off with an allen wrench. That would be nice.

Yes, That's what Im saying. I could be 100% wrong, but here is my thought.

Mid travel setups do not decrease the amount of wheel uptravel, they simply allow the wheel to droop further downward. by running a 1" spacer with the OEM bump stop I can see that you are not using the full stroke of the shock and prematurely stopping the dampening abilities of the shocks. In theory with a mid-travel set-up you could have left the OEM bump stops in there original location and they would have worked just fine at stopping the up-travel prior to the shocks bottoming out on themselves.

did I make sense of that?? what do you think???

This picture is a great example of what my design is avoiding. My bump stop allows for approximately 2" of unimpeded up-travel prior to making contact. This allows for the valving/dampening of our suspension to do its job. Also due to the angle the Wheelers bumps compress many guys have had them separate from there base.

That sounds good. When I installed these, I was like WTF why are they touching when the truck is stationary? But then again they are very soft upon initial squish. I'll never cringe when hitting the bumpstops anymore, because I'm on them 100% of the time now:)

I'll keep an eye out for your product. Good luck! I like the 2 stage design, a firm traditional bumpstop combined by a secondary progressive bump. If that makes sense, it sounds great to me.

I use super bumps with the spacer in the rear because I have a shackle flip. This lowers the rear leaf pivot point so the bump stop needs to be longer to make contact at the appropriate point7E7023DC-7A32-4DAD-8601-22573A3E0A04.jpg

Hey Jeff, A friend of mine @2ndGenJonny was running the same Total Chaos bump stop spacer with a pair of TC LCA's. We just cut the TC spacers out and installed my bump stops. Looks to be a direct replacment. In the next week or two we will have a chance to flex the truck out and see how they perform. Here is a pic of the Tacoma OEM bump stop next to OEM bump with Total Chaos spacer, next to my dual durometer rubber bump stop.

As you can see my bump stop is very similar in overall height to the OEM w/ TC spacer. under compression my bump stop compresses to the same height as the OEM bump stop.

Have you thought about a price point on these yet?

On the test rigs how long have they been in use so far? Looks killer man I'm interested for sure

I’m interested. But want to install them with the total chaos spacers. My tires are bashing my fiberglass.

I'll take 4 for the Hilux, no one does any decent aftermarket ones here. Will you post them to Oz?

My first round of 20 sets of bump stops will be $65.00 plus shipping. then the price goes up...

I have had Beta 2nd gen bump stops installed for about 1 month on several trucks. The 2nd gen bump stops are an addition to my other product offerings. I started making similar bump stops for 3rd gen 4Runners, 1st Gen Tacoma's. Those bump stops have thousands of trail miles on them and have proven to work very well.

What size tire are you running? Most guys running my bump stops are cutting out the TC spacer and installing my bumps to retain as much up travel as possible. The only advantage to running the TC spacer would be to prevent a large size tire from making contact. So kind of sounds to me that you may be running a large diameter tire and that is why you want to run with the TC spacer. Are my assumption correct?

I ship worldwide! Shoot me a PM and I will get you going.

Hey Jeff, After looking into these front bump stops further. It looks like for trucks running Total Chaos or Camburg LCA's there is a need to extend my bump stop to accommodate for the low profile design of the aftermarket LCA's.

So I have the new size made up and just got them installed today for further testing. should have it nailed down now and will have an update of how V2 works for this particular application.

Word on the streets is that you are in R&D for Tacoma rear bump stops. Any updates or info on this?

Got mine installed yesterday. They look and feel great. I installed them with total chaos spacers to keep my tires out of my fenders.
