Everything about this seems really bizarre. First off, are you talking 2nd gen Pro wheels? I thought 3rd gen Pro wheels are 17s. Second off, cutting the body mount seems wild to me, I'd imagine you'd be cutting the cab mount before anything. I'm really having a hard time understanding why you'd be rubbing on anything with that caster, as that's about what I run 315s on 1.25" spacers right now...

Anyway, yeah, the wheels can make or break this thing a ton- why I specifically called out here that it works on stock OR wheels.

The 3rd gen trd pro wheels are 16”, chief. Body mounts are another name for “cab” mounts. In any case, the one aft of the front wheel well, if it wasn’t clear enough.

There does seem to be a lot of variance with these trucks. There are other posts reporting rubbing on this tire size. Also, many different cases where folks had to cut their UCA bolts to get them out, some who hadn’t. Seems that when Toyota drops the body on the frame the tolerances are large enough that some bodies might be shifted differently than others. Nothing wrong with that, but it sometimes will create problems with aftermarket stuff.

I decided to inquire BFGoodrich about 255/85r16 KO2s in a load range C. More people should try getting their attention. I know I'm not the only one that would love that tire. Here's their response:

His offset is why he's rubbing. It's odd though, like he said, there's a lot of disparity. Earlier in the thread I believe someone said that they were running FJ Team Trail wheels which are +10. The stock OR wheels are ugly in my opinion and I'm having a hell of a time trying to find 16x7 +25 wheels.

In much the same way my body has transitioned in real life, I have gone from tall skinny to tall fat.

TRD Pro wheels have a different offset than the TRDOR wheels by about half an inch. From reading older forum posts, it appears that 255/85R16 on the TRD Pro wheels are more likely to rub than TRD OR wheels.

You said the cab mount chop and plastic reforming "mostly" solved the rubbing. Where are you still getting rubbing after those extensive mods?

Tomorrow I'm getting 255/85/16 Cooper ST MAXX tires mounted on Ray 10 16x8. No lift installed. Been really unclear whether or not they will rub on an '18 Off Road stock. I have 5100's (front and rear) and OME 888 coils with full medium duty dakars ready to go but i cant install until next week.

Think it will be a problem to put 255/85/16 on 16x8 ray 10's on a stock '18 Off Road (temporary)?

    The Ray 10's are:
SIZE BOLT PATTERN BS OFFSET WEIGHT
    16 X 8 6 X 139.7. 4.00" -12mm 21.5lbs

Yeah, I’m still rubbing the plastic in some situations. No rub on metal. I don’t plan to bend the pinch weld, which would solve the problem, because I think that could lead to other problems; I just need to remove a bit more material from the edge of the liner.

Not sure I’d call these extensive mods, but I suppose that’s a matter of personal perspective. More than most people had to do for this tire size, which is why I decided to post my experience.

thumbnail_20180717_174020[1].jpg 255s with stock everything no rubbing issues. Had the OME 888, Dakar leafs and LR uca installed yesterday still no rubbing. No I just wish I could find an aftermarket rim.

    For perspective:

Unfortunately I could not keep them on as it was going to rub pretty bad and it really comes down to the offset and extra width on the Ray 10's. I have a lift to install next week including control arms and we'll see where we end up.

I have FJ wheels on mine with 255/85r26 Cooper ST Maxx and I believe the wheels are 16x7.5 +15 offset.

Just ordered a set of 255/85R16 Dick Cepeks and just realized I have no idea if the stock jack will work. Anyone here have any knowledge of this or an alternative that would be better? I remember coming across people who bought stock 4runner jacks to use instead of the one in the Tacoma but can't remember why they went with the change.

It looks awesome ! do you think The Toyos open country MT 255/85/16 will work on my 2016 inferno? And not worry about fender modifications?
