    I went to my uncle's summer place in Mass. yesterday. It's a small, old house built on stilts by a lake. It's been in the family for about 60 years. My grandfather bought it and my uncle took it over about 25 years ago. They are in the process of redoing it, it's gotten kind of run down in recent years. Anyway, they are cleaning out the outbuilding, it's got a ton of stuff in it, old outboard motors, old tools etc. I went in there and found a nice old cast iron skillet that my grandmother used to use when I was a kid. It's pretty dirty and rusted up, but it's restorable. That's my little score from yesterday. I kind of enjoy re-using old, well-built things rather than buying new, made in China stuff.

    I like some of the old stuff, too. I think cast iron skillets will be around forever. A little scrub and re-seasoning and :thumbsup: good to go

    its not that confusing once you get used to it

    its the same as my schedule i think

    you end up working 14 days a month or so

    mon tues fri sat sun the first week...2nd week you work wed thurs...lather rinse and repeat

    after you get used to it you'll actually feel like you have a lot more time off even tho youre still working an 84 or 85 hour pay cycle (if youre on the 2 week pay cycle)

    I always wanted to get in on that schedule, but never could. We had some guys on it that COMPLAINED and ended up back on a regular schedule - STUPID!!! and then they complained about the regular schedule :facepalm: guess you can't make some people happy

    When I worked for the phone company, C&P of MD to show you how old I am, we used to have to do weekend coverage. That gave us two schedules.

    3 days off followed by 10 days then 3 days off or my favorite, 1 day off 5 days on 4 days off then 5 days on then 1 day off.

    4 days off is a nice mini vacation.

    Spent some time today re- seasoning my "new" cast iron skillet. Made bacon cheeseburgers for dinner, cooked the bacon in the skillet. (I know I'm wierd)

    Chris, I think you could mix bondo in this pan. it's indestructible! My uncle told me he melted lead in it for some plumbing repairs many years back.:eek:
