After working like the proverbial rented mule, in 95+ degree heat, for 11 straight days, working like that same rented mule in 80 degree pouring rain was actually a slight relief.

Not having help because all the 25+ year YOUNGER help was "Too tired" was expected, albeit not understood or appreciated.

1 more day of this shit. Swim meet nonsense about over. Then we're back inside in air conditioned building. THEN all the youngins can return to (not) work.

If it were me, I'd be embarassed to be worked under the table by a man in mediocre health that is twice my age. Doesn't phase these people one bit.

Sadly, I agree with you about the state of minds of some of today's youts. I blame the other half of society that coddles them though. There are a lot of exceptions but for the most part, the lack of drive can be found just about anywhere today in any area of work.

 

One of my temps is the son of the food and beverage mgr. This "kid" is 26 and worthless. Friday' we were eating lunch. He ordered a burger. When it was ready, he phoned his mother who was in her office. She walked back to the kitchen and brought his food to the break room. He said something that I didn't hear. His mom walked out, got a knife and cut his burger into 4 pieces.

I was stunned.

If a 26 year old "me" would have asked my mother to cut up my food she would have lit my ass up....

 

Hope she burped him before nap time.

 

I lied about my age to start working at 15 so uncle Sam could take taxes and was on my own, happily, when I was 17. It's a different era, for sure.
