Looking into picking up a Bedslide but am worried about how much space I will lose...

I usually carry two large Costco Black/Yellow bins, a 65qt RTIC and misc odds and ends so can anyone share some pix of the bedslides loaded up so I can get an idea if it will work for me???

You will lose some, but in my experience when I had it in my tundra the lose was acceptable as it made access to the gear a lot easier, just resulted in me having to pack a bit differently.

You don't lose much space imo. If you have nothing covering the bed it may not he as useful since you could just reach over the bedside. I usually have a mid height rack blocking everything. I'm not sure how big a "large Costco yellow/black" bin is so I can't say for sure on fitment but I would think 2 of those and an RTIC 65 would all fit. I haven't had the chance to use mine since I installed it, I really need to take a trip.

The “floor” raises about 4 inches. Here’s a picture of a Rigid tool box and Rigid tool crate, available from Home Depot for reference. My topper is a Century standard height model.

How difficult was installation? Thinking about grabbing a used one for $575 locally. Can’t beat the price, just don’t trust myself to drill holes in my truck.

I found install easy going off the instructions from bedslide. I got mine used and picked up 4 sets grade 8 hardware from HD. The only bolt that was kinda difficult was above the gas tank.

That is a good price! I had installed same day as the shell.

Likely just me, but I can’t stand bedslides. For the few times they are a help, the majority of the time they are a total hindrance. Things roll under them never to be seen again, the whole assembly rattles and shakes noisily when you go over bumps, they are heavy and hurt your fuel economy, and reduce your cargo room both vertically and horizontally. They completely negate your ability to haul anything loose. Even a bag of bark mulch can be a total disaster if it spills out and under the bed slide. Furthermore, unless you store everything perfectly on top of them, good luck sliding them open when stuff has fallen to the side.

They look great on paper, but in practice they are not a great thing, at least in my opinion. I’ve had two work pickups fitted with them, and never found them to be of any use.

Just my opinion. Don’t do it. Spend the money on something else. YMMV.

Wow, Your opinion has shown me the errors in my ways. How could I be so stupid purchasing an item I wanted and find usefull because someone else feels the opposite. I'll cry myself to sleep tonight over my wasted money.

If it works for you, I am as happy for you as anonymous internet friend can be. Just sharing my opinion. I am sure the bedslide works great for door-to-door Rubbermaid bin salesmen, and black-ops guys who have lots of weapons in flight cases.

I haven’t had anything fall under mine. Sure it makes a little noise but I expected that

The thing that sold me on the bedslide is I can remove it with 4 bolts. Takes a couple minutes and I have full use of my bed again.

I can imagine there are lots of folks here who are ‘modular’ enough that it’s a great feature. I’m just too rough around the edges, and somewhat haphazard, for a system that requires a high degree of organization to work for me.

I stand by my points as good advice for others like me.
