The wife and I are going to be driving to Niagara Falls this summer from Kansas, then looping through the Adirondacks and Catskills, then through the Appalachians through Penn, W. Virginia, and Kentucky before heading home. Our plan is to camp 3 nights, and motel every 4th. This way we only have to pay for a motel for 2/3 nights. (with all I have spent on my truck and guns lately we gotta go cheap).

The focus of our trip is outdoor exploration, hiking, wheeling, camping and such.

So with that in mind, anyone living in these areas who can suggest some must see, or must do items please post em here!

If I could get the time off of work, and someone to pay my bills, believe me brother I'd be there!

I grew up hunting and camping. My wife...not so much! I'm trying to break her in a few days at a time with motel breaks in between. :D

Hmmm, don't know about the rest, but i do know Niagara Falls...Been there many of times. Great view of one of the biggest water falls around, but very pricey to stay at (food, gas, hotel) At least if your staying on the Canadian side. Its one of the biggest tourist attractions in Ontario, hence the extra costs. But definitely worth it if your from Kansas. Do you plan on coming over the border? If so, i could recommend other sights or spots to check out.

All in all, sounds like you got a great road trip planned! I'm jealous, but plan on doing my own sometime soon. Have fun!

Howe Caverns in Upstate NY is pretty neat. Spend a day hiking on the Appalachian trail.
I can't really think of anything else right now...but I'll keep pondering on it.

Definately we are going to cross the border. I grew up in upstate NY (Rochester area) and went to Canada all the time. I'm taking the wife back who has never been to Canada, so I thought we'd cross at the falls, then make our way through Ontario and come back in near Vermont. Anything you could suggest along the way would be awesome!

Thanks. I moved away from Upstate when I was in the 7th grade so I'm not so familiar with sights which I did not grow up around. Please fill me in on anything you think of.

    Cheers,
    Bryan
