This is why I will always ride an E rated tire, they are so much tougher than the stock ones and it's REALLY hard to pop them. I used to pop 3-4 wheels a year, since I went to e-rated I haven't had a flat in 4 years. I also have really come to appreciate the stiffer ride you get as I don't like a super soft ride. It probably adds to your gas bill and makes you a little slower...but the peace of mind is priceless to me.

Edit: Never had ST Maxx's but heard good things about them. I have Falken Wildpeaks on my taco and KO2's on my 4runner. My favorite AT E-rated though is the Toyo, but that's also the most expensive.

So I had the 255/80R17 StMaxxs on the last Tacoma. I really liked them. Issues I had was they were freaking heavy, after 25k they got a tad noisy, and in the beginning the lost their balance for some reason (easy fix though). You do need to stick to rotations every 5k since they are sensitive to odd wear if you go beyond that. On the highway I did get better gas mpg, in town suffered a little bit. But I was also a 6spd manual.

I would recommend them if you didn’t mind spending a bit more $$ for them, you need a really durable tire, and do a big combination of road, highway, Offroad or trails, snow, etc.. it’s basically the badass Swiss Army knife of tires. That and they look great. The size you’re looking at should be ok on stock suspension as long as you don’t flex to much and go mobbing over speed bumps. I have seen shortages of the 16” versions though

There's a quick camping event on the last week of the month with one of the tacoma groups on fb. I might be going if anyone else is up for it.

There isn't much details on what they're planning on doing so I might go to camp and hang out then explore the area during the day

Well that is certainly a strong selling feature; no forking around with that tire

I've got a 6spd too so I figured that will help with getting them rolling since I can hold the gears longer. Your recommendation does sound pretty accurate and if the extra cost is worth it I have no problem with the upsell. Yeah the 16" got really popular cause most of the regular sites are out of stock; I've found a few options at least just trying to figure out the option that would get me the best price. I think everyone on TW is buying the 16" to add to their stock OR rims

Actually a fan was the best the best thing I used that plug for. Great for camping. Start a campfire in the pouring rain, keep the bugs away, put it in the tent... I used to keep a box fan with me when camping, worked great.

Morning all! Back from my camping trip today :pout:

Had an awesome time, though. A few pics to follow shortly, once I can get them uploaded from my phone.

Also saw an Inferno 4Runner with an RTT & Mass plates on it checking in at the campground yesterday; guy and a girl. Didn't get there in time to say hi and ask if they were on here, though.

Not on Saturday, but it downpoured with thunder/lightning for about 45 minutes on Sunday morning around 11, and then cleared out and was gorgeous. Must have dropped 2 inches of water, though. Boat took an extra 10 seconds or so to get up on plane so we could drain it out
Fishing was pretty good. I caught a bunch of smaller panfish (mostly Brookies and smaller Landlocked Salmon) for breakfast both mornings, some of them right from shore (the point that we were camping on drops off to over 30 feet of water 10 feet from shore) and then randomly hooked a nice Salmon on Sunday afternoon while we were anchored halfway up the lake, drinking beer and swimming. Tossed him back, though, because we'd already had fish for breakfast and had ribs planned for supper that night.

Sounds like you need a bilge pump in that tub if you are going to do overnighters. Nice to hear you hooked some fish. Was the lake busy with fishermen?

Either that or just don't go camping in the rain
Saturday it was crowded (as crowded as a lake that size with just one boat launch can be, at least). Sunday they all bugged out as soon as the lightning started flickering and went bombing past the island at full throttle, packed up, and never came back. So after it cleared off we had the whole lake to ourselves on Sunday; didn't see another boat all afternoon, and we went all the way up to the beaches for a late lunch. Monday was average, I think I saw 5-6 boats putz past the island that morning. The same ones I always see, though, that belong to the locals. A crappy old party barge with plywood sides, an older trihull with a canopy, and a couple of random aluminum Lund-style bass boats.
