do the standard 20 degree sliders stick out enough to provide door ding protection?

I can’t speak for RCI but most do yes.

I have the 5* ones without a lift I don’t think they provide much in way of “ding” protection, some maybe?

I have RCI. No dings so far. Smaller cars doors are gonna hit the sliders. Full size lifted trucks, probably not. Best defense is to park beside newer cars where they are more concerned about dinging their own door than yours. Or park in the boonies at Walmart and walk a bit.

I have the RCIs and yeah, as the guy above has said, they stick out enough to provide some protection. They won't protect you from those pointy rear doors on passenger sedans, though. My kids have proven that (back when I used to allow my wife to park next to me).

Pic is an attempt to show the slider protruding out from the truck:

Way way way to many variables to account for a general "yes" or "no" answer for door dings. Sliders will in fact protect your rocker panel while offroad.

I do both. I haven't got any dings from small car morons, but usually park on the outer edges of a parking lot- helps get my 10,000 steps a day.

No because then cool red neck trucks think they want to show you what a "real truck is" and their local slam pig riding shot gun has to run in to get a wiz quiz and some Twinkies to celebrate if they have another gov't tax money supplier on the way and in the process drags said crap box door across one fine Tacoma
