The bearings are internal of the blower. They are responsible for allowing the blower to spin freely when they are either in vacuum or boost.

They become compromised for a number of reasons. Likely just defective and failed early, as these things do happen.

    Misfire in cylinder 2
Cause was the aftermarket ignition coils. They tested it with factory ones an no codes running smooth.
Tech said he heard a noise in the SC an took it off looked in the oil an saw metal shavings an deamed it to be the bearings. Sent the blower to Magnuson in CA an they looked at it an decided it wasn't to far fucked to rebuild an that's what they are doing.

Like @12TRDTacoma said. It does happen but that's low miles for a failure. Hope this time it lasts a long while.

That’s crazy those bearings would go that early but I guess anything’s possible like stated above. I believe they are pressed in the back of the blower and the fins are pressed into the bearings thus alowing the fins to spin

Yeah not that far away. Been hot as hell here. Not good boost weather when it's 105F.

The bearings are placed both in front and the back of the blower if I remember correctly. The job is actually not too hard to do to overhaul the blower and replace the bearings, but if you don't know what you are doing you could do more harm than good.

I have been considering ceramic bearing replacements for mine when mine start going as they not only allow smoother and faster rolling action, but they are supposed to heat substantially less over full metal bearings, but they are more expensive over metal counterparts.

Ive heard the ceramic ones are prone to making the rattling noise too though...I just stuck to the oem rebuild kit for when it’s time. Either way, we are good anyway we go I’m sure.

I'd like more info on ceramic. Sounds interesting.

I was just thinking about ceramic bearings for the supercharger the other day, I’m interested too.

As I understand they take the stress of turbos. Wonder how they compare in longevity to stock.

I just noticed this PID for EGT. Where is this sampled, O2 sensor? Or is it a modeled estimate from some other parameter?

My ultragauge reads the temps from the o2 sensors.

Edit: it doesn’t have an EGT option though. I can pick a bank&sensor for temp.

I have that pioneer head unit. . . how the heck did you get gauges to display on that?!?!?!?

I was just going to drive down there when I was ready to get my kit. I called them a few weeks ago and they said they have a store front there and that it'd be no issue. . .just fyi
