    Pros:
    You can drive it under water
    It's actually more of a "cold air intake" than my K&N CAI is
    That, an RTT, and a set of maxtracs and you can look like everyone else, lol...

    Cons:
    Expensive
    require large holes in fenders - no going back (not that most people would, though)
    more or less unnecessary unless you cross a lot of deep water - like seriously deep water.

    @2BeersPlease, are you saying the dust good or bad for the snorkels? I can't see it being much of a difference since you still have an air filter, but I don't have personal experience with one, either.

    Primary function of a snorkel is for dust. "Cleaner air". Water crossings is secondary.

    Ah, gotcha, makes sense.

    With the multiple changes in direction, the heavier dirt/dirt particles get "filtered" out even before they hit the air filter.

    They are more for sending cleaner air to the intake than they are for submarining. I've never seen anyone cross water that was up to the top of the windshield.

    Let me rephrase: I've never seen anyone on/from this forum go through water that deep in their Tacoma.

    agreed, way too many other components in today's vehicles (even ones from the 90s) to completely submerge the front end without worry just because you have a snorkel on.

    Got mine on Black Friday from Cruiser Outfitters. I think it was $300 shipped to my door. Heck of a deal.

    Sometimes out local OR park has a decent amounts of water from rain storms. This one guy sent it through a giant puddle and had a $1200 bill to get towed 2.5 hours home. A $300 snorkel and some holes in a fender are nothing..

    yeah when I did Mojave Road earlier this year the water came just above the door sill and started to seep inside the truck...sucked but it was the only way to exit the trail without backtracking several miles and leaving my group. Hugged the right side of the water crossing to keep the truck at a slight angle so the air intake stayed above water, but it put my driver's side door lower into it.

    Screen grab from a video of when I crossed. I hit a rock pretty abruptly at this moment and scared the shit out of myself...

    ...anyway if I had a snorkel I would've been more comfortable with taking the middle of the crossing. Other than a little water getting inside the truck and me nearly shitting my pants, all was well.

    Yeah, on Dirt Everyday they did quite a bit of waterproofing. Although it was mostly just sealing wiring connections with dielectric grease, and extending the diff breathers and intake/exhaust. Not like it was an off the shelf snorkel, either, lol.

    Oh, and noting having an interior to speak of or any other electronics.

    I've heard of 2nd gens routing the intake into the cabin behind the dash on the passenger side. I think @jqueener did that. Not sure if that can be done on 1st gens.
