LSD or not how to tell

I just bought a 2005 reg cab 4x4 about a month ago how do i tell if i have a LSD besides the obvious.. (go get stuck) anybody know if there is a way to tell by a stamp on it or did all 05's that were not trd off road come with one or not thanks...

 

If you have lsd there should be a sticker on the rear diff that says "LSD oil only" or something to that effect.

 

1. There should be sticker on rear diff that says LSD oil only. Sticker is next to the fill plug on the diff.
2. lift the rear axle (both tires in the air), try to spin one wheel with your hands. If you can not then you have Limited slip diff.

 

^ What he said. My 07 had that sticker but to engage it you gotta learn how to feather the brake!

No need for brakes if it is working correctly ...

 

I had lsd in my 07, no way to turn it on without braking technique! No lsd switch or traction control off.

 

I have 07 too with LSD, Its always ON since it is mechanical. It just works unless clutch packs are burned out.

 

Well then maybe I just expected too much from mine! Oh well, got a 2010 4x4 now so no worries! lol

 

I had LSD once, it was great, but the flashbacks are a bitch!

The LSD can be ordered on almost any truck. My truck is a base model truck with no TRD option and has the LSD. However his front will be open. All fronts will be open.

 

Its not a locker for sure but depending where you going maybe a bad thing or good thing.

 

If you start having visual sometimes auditory hallucinations...............then it could be LSD

 

Your more than welcome to come and drive my truck. The picture I posted above is off of my base model 07 Tacoma non TRD, with LSD. There are many trucks here on this site with such a setup. It is certainly a possibility.

I have however never tried to build one on the net. They even have a few on the lots here and in Texas.

 

So my 05 off-road double cab LSD or no?

 

if you have LSD you will also have have soem wires running along the brake lines to the hubs as well as the stickers and such.

my LSD only engages when the passenger side rear starts to spin. Ive never seen and LSD that doesn't work along this line?
