Locking Bike Fork Mount?

Which brand do you guys use for bike fork mounting? I'd like to have one that looks in case I need to run to the store after I got mountain biking but I can't seem to find one that isn't crazy expensive. This one on Amazon is pretty cheap, has good reviews, but it looks like someone can just unscrew the nut and slide the mrchanism out if I'm not mistaken.

Tried searching, but I can't find any relative information that is within the past 3 years or so.

I have that one. Yes, you theoretically could unscrew the nut but it’s on so tight that it would take some vise grips and a whole lot of patience. It would be easier for the thief to just cut the lock. When it comes down to it, nothing is ever completely theft proof, but this does a good job at mitigating it.

I just got back from doing the Mojave Death Race last week and it held my Trek just fine even when blasting through desert trails in my truck.

I have a through axle mount(maxle 15mm) on my Trek Stache 7. I plan on mounting this to the front rail(I put it in), however I am unsure if I'll be able to close the tailgate, as the bike is right around 60" long from front axle to back of the rear tire. It might also interfere with my high lift jack mount(which is on the front rail)....we'll see. I have extra T-nuts to install it. I imagine I can mount it all the way to one side and kick the rear end of the bike and have it go diagonal which will gain me a couple extra inches.

Rockymounts. I like how they will key additional mounts to the keys you already have,so you don’t have to remember which key is for which mount. They’ll all just use the same key. I just had to get a new one because the other was only for QD and my new bike has through axle, although they do offer a QD to through axle adapter, I had wanted the third mount anyways so I just got the whole new mount.

Just get RockyMounts, and also get the front C rail for the top of the bed, it’s like $15 from the dealer.

To bounce off my topic again, does anyone have any pictures of their bike mount bolted to their truck?

Reason I ask is I'm not sure if I should mount it to the floor of the bed or the front rail in the front. Not sure which is easier. Forgot my truck doesn't have the bed cleats in the front so I can't just use two bolts and nuts.

 

I've used that one for a few years when I mounted my bike on my sidecar. I never had a worry about security even with all the attention that would get.

I put in a 2nd Gen accessory rail on the front of my bed and have the Delta mount on it using some Hondo Garage nuts, but have not had a chance to use it with the bike yet. Being a bit lazy.

I paid $25 for the mount and it was the right price. $60 or more was just not reasonable to me.

 

Front bed rail is easier because the incline will make the handlebars tilt back and not hit the back window

 

I have the above locking mount. When it is clamped over your fork, that nut is clamped pretty tightly on the outside of your fork. It would be pretty difficult to unscrew it by hand. If someone is really motivated, they could grab some locking pliers and go to town. For the price, I would definitely recommend it. I also have the factory Toyota mount which is junk, and the Rocky locking mount, which I love, but it is pricey $$.

 

I did buy the mount. It's sitting on my back seat just trying to figure out how to mount it properly. Going to put it together tonight. Thanks for all your input!

 

do the rocky mounts come with the hardware? I'm guessing no, and it kills me to have to pay $20 for hardware...

I have this one it's better than the older design in that it has 3 bolts with one of them being hidden under the lock. With the older style, there were 2 exposed bolts that a thief could just remove and take the mount along with the bike. I position mine over one of the rail bolts so they can't just take the rail.
