hmmm...Well California is pretty much a different country. LOL

I'm pretty sure it's not that way in the Southeast. You don't pay the sales taxes of the state you buy the car in, but the sales tax of the state you register it in. In some cases, the dealership where you buy the car will collect your state's sales tax and then pass it along to your home state.

If those L.A. guys would travel just 3 hours north, they’d find them for at least MSRP.

Nope. I bought my Dodge truck in Idaho a few years back paid no taxes. Registered it in Nevada and paid sales tax. Moved to California 6 months later. They tried getting sales tax but I showed them my receipt for Nevada sales tax and was given a pass on paying again.

    Holy shit full TW thread.....

1.) Anyhoo OP.... did you leave this thread or do you any movement towards the "fixing" it range?
2.) I thought these trucks, Tacomas are overpriced, even my Sport at $32400 - I remember they had a pro on the lot at 45k and I laughed at it.... Tacoma for 45k???:rofl::rofl::rofl:.I thought 30k was a bit high, but hey I still bought it :( and I love my truck.
3.) So Cal is funny place - Butt for every seat I guess, overall I hope you get it resolved and you enjoy your truck for many years.

Things I’ve learned in this thread:

1.Unpainted steel will develop surface rust
    2. People over pay for already overpriced trucks
    3. Registration is expensive.

Why would they ever do that when they could just require your insurance agency to record your annual mileage and surcharge you for it.

The “gross capitalized cost” of my 17 TRD Pro was $44K. I don’t know the dealership game. And I know TTL can vary. But does that really change the price by 16K? Seems like CA buyers could just come here and drive it back?

No that’s not correct at all. They give you a temporary trip permit , then you pay registration and fees where you live. Toyota can calculate fees and put them in loan or customer pays cash .
    Very easy and seamless .

Cali has plenty of dealers selling for MSRP or less.

Not true. If you buy a car out of state and move to CA they will charge you the difference between the tax where you purchased it and the CA sales tax. You don't pay the tax again, just the difference if it was less.
