Go wheel at night on twisty mountain roads... they help a lot if pointed in the right direction

Our "ditch lights" come in multiple configurations e.g. with spot reflectors which work great as a fog light. Many manufactures, CBI, Expedition One to name a few offer our lights in their bumpers as fog lights.

Do you have a lot of things coming out of nowhere at your doors? When you say "wheel at night" do you mean driving fast on twisty roads? Because when I'm "wheeling" I'm going pretty slow.

Ive done both... fast on dirt roads at speed and even some more technical stuff at night. Either way, if your ditch lights are angled correctly, they provide light to the right and left of your truck where you may be driving it next... hopefully not into a ditch lol

I guess I just don't have problems with that. I still stand by my statement, they're more for attention than for function.

Used them on many overnight Scouting Trips with my boys. Come in real handy in my opinion.

What do they achieve that normal fog lights don't though?

Flood lights to the sides instead of just in front of you. Desert roads aren’t strait and seeying what is beyond an upcoming corner instead of what is in front of you is certainly advantageous.

Unless you're doing a bunch of u-turns at speed, I still don't see the need over your average combo pattern bumper light bar. I think some people just like having 20 lights on the front of their trucks, for the 'gram.

I don’t know where you’re at. But if you travel any mountain roads like I do that are covered up with Elk with blinding corners they will save your truck. When the Elk are off in the ditches and are headed for the road you see them with enough time to react. Of course this is just my opinion.

You’re not wrong that ditch lights have become an accessory to every instalander. But as most accessories that have made the IG superheros who they are, the accessory was designed to solve a specific problem.

For example, maxtrax are useless and nothing more than eye candy if you stick to fire roads and hardpack in the hot months. But do a snow run or hit some mud meadows and you’ll quickly realize their usefulness. Same can be said with ditch lights. If you never do night runs and you stick to just drinking beer while you watch prerunner tear ass up and down powerline roads, yeah, they are pointless. Keep in mind the terrain differences across the US. Run the Tahoe OHV section of rubicon to the Springs at night. You’ll quickly see their value.

As pretty much everyone else has said, when properly aimed they are really nice for filling in side coverage. (excuse my crude paint illustration)
