Whats up everyone? Well, the subject line says it all. Anyone else have this issue? A buddy of mine said he had the same problem. Said he had the shift points adjusted. When I called the dealership, they said it probably needs a software update. Any comments or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the dealer and get the tranny flashed if it's needed.

Flashed? I am assuming you mean flushed. The truck only has 4,500 miles on it.

    No. Flashed. Computer updated.
If dealer said it may need updated, take it in and find out.

Lots of people have had tranny tsb's applied, myself included. If you search for tranny flashed tsb you will find enough reading material to last you a lifetime.

There's a new TSB out for a flash on the 3.5 ... extremely effective, had it done last week

No tags on the bed, air dam.
I found that using the S mode in an automatic and using 3rd gear helps maintain rpms when traveling up hills.

Anyone have a link for the TSB? the one I keep finding only goes to 2014 vehicles.

    A couple things
Just tell them your truck is hunting gears, they are aware and will get the correct TSB applied.

In the factory build process, when would a software update get applied-- earlier or later?

Just bought a 2018 last week. Order date was 5/2018, arrived at the dealer in early July. Do you think I need the update?

I don't need an update that came out last week?

I guess my question depends on Toyota's software development cycle / time lines. When a revision is released, would the factory get the "fixes" before a TSB is released for existing vehicles?

Sitting right at 14K miles today. so a couple weeks I will have it in for the 15K service.

I will expect to get the TSB done at that time. My service writer was made aware at the 5k and 10K services that I was not happy with the hunting and advised following the 10K "IT is a known and widespread issue. We have heard a LOT of complaints. I am surprised they have not yet issued an update to resolve or improve the issue".

Looks like it has landed with this TSB. I just don't want to stop other stuff right now to get the truck in before the 15K service.

My bad. I thought the TSB was older than that.

Add a ShiftSense Pro. Search the threads here. Best mod you can do next to a Tune. I have one . No more gear hunting. Better mileage for me. Completely changes your truck.
