That's why a trailer hitch stand is ideal for a truck because of the weight/force the hitch can withstand. I believe there are weight limitations for the bed rail system (200 pounds?) and the roof rack system (OEM) is less than that.

Nope turd gen thread.. Good resources and stand ideas already posted. OP pick something.. The stands aren't that cumbersome nor do they take up much space. They can also be made to fit in short beds.

Yep. here it is more detailed:

    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum...quick-bipod-style-stand?p=1883480#post1883480

$30 for the 4 uprights and $36 (with shipping) for the L connectors. Used the amsteel (yellow) from the turtle dog stand. The eye bolts on the bottom of the legs I had from another project and I tapped the holes to thread the bolts.

The top rail is two sections of 6' with an 18" length of 1-1/2" pipe as a joiner. This is what I had on the turtle.

    Sturdy AF

That's where I bought the connectors from. I couldn't find the damn link. I used the L connectors.

    Nice.
No movement end-to-end? Stability on uneven ground?

There is movement but it's not unstable.

Pretty solid. I can even put my penny pincher tarp on there and fasten it to the legs. The only issue that I have had so far was at the NH Jamboree this year. We had a micro cell hit us with continuous 50knot and up winds, and it got blown over, even staked to the ground. But EVERYONE's camping gear got blown over that night. Other than that, the movement is very minimal, not enough for me to be nervous in it....

Edited to add: I was NOT in it when it blew over LOL

    Good to know.

Had that issue with my turtledog, at the beach, couple months back.
Hung the hammock from it, turned around to grab something else.......Phoof! Wind grabbed it and took off.

A sand anchor for each tripod solved that.

Same before I got the tarp staked out.. The storm that rolled in threw it against my fender. Once it was staked out it didn't move

Several here have mentioned the ENO Roadie.

I had one and used it quite frequently for several months.
    Ended up selling it.

    Pros:
Simple system: 6 pieces, quick setup
Hang anywhere you have a vehicle.
Vehicle provides shade due to location.

    Cons:
Can only hand where you have a vehicle.
Doesnt store well, the base frame is what kills it.
Finish started to peel off mine after a month of use, not just the parts you drive on.
Once setup your vehicle is essentially locked into that spot, similar to using a RTT.
I found the legs to be short, although it seems some have found ways to add extensions, and consequently was always pressed into the side of my truck.

For what one cost I built the turtledog and had change to spare.
