I've never done that Murph but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Starting to feel a little pathetic with the mods and the fact I practically can't do anything on my own.

Been saving up for a few tools to do some routine maintenance. Going to take a while but I'll eventually learn something

It’s a good thing to know how to do buddy. Can help when you’re somewhere that you need to have the tire fixed then. You can google it and give it a shot. If you mess up and it still leaks you can pull it and try again. I’ll usually use 2 plugs when I do one and use a dab of the rubber cement on the plug before I insert it.

I’ve found the best way to learn stuff is to just do it on your own. Hell when I was younger and couldn’t afford stuff I had to work on my Jeep myself. Grabbed a service manual and changed out the valve cover gasket as my first project ever. Then did the drum brakes. Brakes didn’t work out as well but I redid them and finally got them done.

Collect you some tools and just go for it. You can do it!

Have to agree with this, always a good thing to know, if you don't already. Personally, I've done it a few times myself, so if Discount is around, I will take the freebee fix and let 'em do it.

It's not a poor attitude man. It can be scary attempting something you've never done before. One you do just try something it gets easier to do more. Start small and work your way up. Hell, I'd never changed out a suspension until I got my lift and did it. Never installed a snorkel until I did mine. I had done a lot of wiring in all my vehicles before so that's not a big deal anymore. 12v is easy to do. Now radios are so easy to install its ridiculous with all the plug and play adapters. The only thing that can hold you back are the expensive machines you have to have for some things. Suspension is easy, wiring is easy, brakes are ridiculously east on the tacoma, shit I've been thinking about doing a flat bed for my truck myself. My next welder will have the ability to do aluminum so that will make things better weight wise. Of course that will be a learning curve for me since I've never welded aluminum before. Thing is you can do anything you just have to have the courage to try it. You'll kick yourself later for not doing something you paid out the ass for when you find out how easy it really is. It's always tough the first time and takes longer to do. After that you get faster doing it. We're all here for you to walk you through something if you try it.

When there's a mod day go watch the other guys doing something. You'll learn all kinds of things and how they work. Shit with a 10mm, 12mm and 19mm you can pretty much disassemble this whole damn truck.

To start out get a nice socket set in metric/sae (3/8 or 1/2"), then get some screwdrivers in multiple sizes and lengths. A wrench set in metric/sae, torque wrench and deep socket set (I use a 1/2" set and torque wrench). Some pliers (needle nose and plain). Wire stripper and crimp set. Cordless drills make things easier but not a necessity for everything.

Later on you can get a soldering gun and learn to solder connections. I use heat shrink tubing on all my connections crimped or soldered. Mainly just get what you need to do a job as you go from here on out. You'll see tools others have and learn what they can be used for.

I always love how the tire places make it out like you're going to die with a plug in a tire. lmao

Hell no don't do that that's so dangerous! Instead let us patch it for $14 from the inside. I like to ask them if they are going to rebalance the tire for that too since there's the possibility of it getting off with them unseating the tire. Oh no that's extra if you want us to do that. Ohhhhh ok, so it's not dangerous with me running around on a tire that's not balanced correctly????? lmao

Yes, I love fucking with people.

Mine is never not busy. They do everything from passenger cars to 18 wheelers. If you're not the first one with an appt at 0730 then you're waiting for hours. Plus they don't make any money patching your tire, they do on that $900 set of tires they are installing for someone else with a alignment add on.
