dogs do that sometimes when their anal glands are clogged...I dont know if cats have the same issue? I know it stinks badly if they are clogged. Its basically something we let the vet do.

Could explain the butt dragging, but not the diarrhea. My cats have had the gland issue in the past, so it's not just a dog thing. Seems worse with females, and older cats.

The butt dragging seems more of using the carpet as kitty toilet paper :puke:rather than itching.

I thought that too, about the diarrhea, but then @JaCado mentioned stress so I thought maybe the kitty was stressed because of the anal glands. Captain Fluffy Butt might be getting a double whammy. :notsure:

Reason I mentioned stress is the wife and kid are out of town for a few days. He gets really wierd when the kid leaves. He will go and hide or sleep by the front door waiting for him to come home.

Poor kitty. I have one like that. When we go away he won’t eat for the first 2 or 3 days. Gives the cat sitter a hard time every time.

Have you checked his tushy for any minor cuts or abrasions? Wouldn’t explain the diarrhea but maybe the dragging?

No I have not, the symptoms have been going on since summer started and the kid has been out of school. Schedule has been erratic, with playdates and outings.
We finally had to shave his back end to keep him from..... nevermind. No detail needed:oops:

Sounds like it's time for a vet visit. Occasional diarrhea happens, but chronic diarrhea is not normal and could be dangerous - and contagious if it's bacterial/viral.
