The original one I cracked, had Eddy fix, and then cracked again by the recovery point. So I cut off the swingout stuff and welded up the cracks and ground everything

Yes I think it would! And if I can find time after they get back from Line-X I'll definitely want to bolt them on. Otherwise they will ride in the 16' box truck the whole way down. Safely locked away.

On Saturday they will still be bare steel, so no bolting them on yet!

Filler plates and kick-out?

Easily could since I already do financials on there but, I feel like my OCD would get the better of me on the odometer & speedometer. Plus the savings by getting the DCs over the S/T Maxx essentially made the hypertech free and in the future I can always change the tire size to match what I have.

That's the option I'm going with mine. For those with them already did you do a layer of primer over the bare metal? I'm thinking I'm just going to use the bed liner spray out of a can so it'll have some texture for a step.

 

Yes, use this stuff. It sticks like crazy (and don't get it on your hands!). Dan @dc welding and I were just talking about this stuff yesterday

 

My sliders on the Tacoma were several layers of primer, then paint, then undercoating/bedliner. After a winter I usually had to touch it up again due to the road shit basically sandblasting them. Be amazed how much comes off just by rocks and stuff getting kicked up.

 

I learned that after bed lining my grille; just disappears. I can only imagine the sliders being lower; I'm hoping I'll be able to keep the front mud flaps on to help keep some shit off of the sliders

 

I think with that and stock rims you should be ok. I think with this go around i'm going to with POR-15 for the base coat

 

My Line-X on the front bumper looks good as new after a winter or two. Spray-on bedliner may be easier, but Line-X won't wear down.

On the other hand, if I do manage to chip it/scrape it off, I'll have to take the whole bumper off to get it re-coated for free. So that's the biggest inconvenience haha

 

Also yours costs hundreds of dollars to coat and cans will end up being $30-$40

 

Skip the paint and the bedliner will adhere better

 

I'd be more tempted to try Line-x on a piece that wouldn't see as much abuse as sliders can. Bumper would be better since there's less of a chance of it getting scraped. Bed liner out the can can always just get added to to fix any spots.

 

my only concern with that is cost. I know the guy that owns the place in our area, but really don't want to spend another $200+ on coating. I know I can do it for under $50 myself and just have to do touch up as needed. But I do know that LineX stuff is super durable
