Rear diff breather

Just noticed from turbodb's build about doing the rear differential breather tube on my 98. I had no idea...

Btw, great snow pictures, can't wait to take my truck offroading in the snow this winter (missed it this past one).

Did everyone use these? Are there any other breathers or anything to fix for water crossings of any kind? (Do I need to fix front diff, transfer case, transmission...)

I'm not going to mount mine on the gas tank, but thinking I'll just zip tie it further up somewhere under the body, other suggestions?

 

Front diff is already routed to under the hood. AFAIK, the trany and t-case are good, too. For some reason, the rear diff wasn't extended from factory, so really that's the main one you need.

For *really* deep water, there's a lot more you need to water proof (i.e. just doing a snorkel doesn't cut it).

Do you have one? I saw those a little while ago, but I'm curious how they hold up. If it cracks, you're back to essentially stock.

 

No I don't have one. I'm not sure how long the plastic would hold up either so that's why I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet.

 

I still need to do my rear breather. My buddy told me to get these, but being the over analytical type I had to see reviews, nothing conclusive, but a lot of people were worried that these don't have enough volume for the heat and pressure built up from driving, a lot said they'd been fine offroad, but wouldn't trust it on a daily.
This was all on random forums with little to no data from people that actually ran them, so take it with a big grain of salt. I'm curious though because that would be super easy

Same. I have to change my diff fluid again because I was too lazy to do this and put the diff underwater like a week after changing the fluid
