I can see 33 10.5 fitting under a Taco with no lift and cut out wheel wells. 33 x 12.5 much harder

Only read the first page of responses so apologies if it's already been mentioned... but there was a guy on here who modified his 1st gen to have a roll down rear glass. Then was (possibly) offering up the kit for sale.

I had it bookmarked on my old (broken) computer so I can't find it here.

Guaranteed you were sitting in a Tundra... Who knows... maybe you were sitting in a Dodge at a Toyota dealer...

Look, I get it. You think it was a Tacoma. I can't remember what I did last week, so it's not unlikely you're just remembering wrong. Toyota has NEVER had a factory slide down window in a Tacoma. Their big "thing" for the rear window was a split middle window vs. the one piece slide.

And not for drop down, but to create a power option for the slider.

Think he sold it to Toyota, so why it's in the '17/'18 models. True story.

    Power slider, not drop down.

I know personally it makes business sense to have such a feature on the already more expensive bigger clientele truck. The Tundra. Not a $38,000 Tacoma which I do recall the dealer asking price for. 2003 or 2004. There is a pro mod business somewhere who originally made this feature on a Taco. I have driven home a new Taco I was looking at buying one year to drive it back to the dealer the next day and not buy it. To troll me on this forum over me searching for those who are more aware and knowledgeable is disappointing.

Where are you getting $38,000 from?

MSRP for Tacomas in 2004 was up to about $22,700, which is about $30k in today's value.

    https://www.autoblog.com/buy/2004-Toyota-Tacoma/specs/

If you paid 38,000 ($51,000 in today's money) for a Tacoma in 2004, you got taken to the cleaners. No wonder you returned it.

Again, it'd be cool if you could find this "pro mod" company that made this feature, where they were then sold at Toyota dealers. People do custom work all the time, but you're talking about this is if it came from a dealer like this.

There's an old saying: An extraordinary claim requires extraordinary proof... Sorry pal, but right now, no one believes you.

I think you are being naive to think a dealer allowed a new truck to have the cab structure removed from a new vehicle and paid what I would suspect to be $8,000 to have a roll down rear window. This simply would not happen anywhere, it does not make business sense to do something like that. Around the same time the Tundra with the roll down rear window was hitting the market and thus would have been a major selling point and one that any salesperson would want to show off. Also a reason to talk you into the larger more expensive truck. I would guess you are remembering this as if you search on google you will find almost no mention of this modification other than the few that have been done in a garage and look nothing near factory. You asked a simple question and received a plethora of information. You should not be disappointed in the forum because no one can prove to you that it did not happen. Fact's suck sometimes.

The liability a dealer would have to take on for such a modification would be insane and thus I just don't see it happening as you remember it.
