Well Icon contacted me and will repair my shock under warranty. I'll ship it out tomorrow and hopefully get it back in 2-3 weeks. I guess $30 to ship it there is worth the hassle. Then maybe I'll get with @dan0mite to tweak the pressures in the rear shocks. If I can't get it right I may cave to the usual TW pressure and spend MORE money on my truck with some Kings :spending:

Both my 06 4runners had a shimmy at 35 or so when changing gears. Both about 175k miles. Never did figure it out I traded them in.

Is there a good resource for tuning these shocks? I know adjusting nitrogen pressures will change how they behave but idk what values to aim for or start out with. I still need to find a shop to do it locally for me.

Any good mountain bike shop should have the nitrogen set up to be able to do that part. When it comes to valving and stuff if Icon's valves are swapable then you can play with them yourself. I have never had Icon's apart but I know some rebuildable shocks like this you can remove the valves and get different valves and mess with that yourself. This is a rabbit hole you will go down as anything you add to the truck you'll need to retune since it changes the dynamics of the truck. If I were you I wouldn't get too far into this until you get out and use yours and start getting some seat time in the truck both on and off-road then start doing a lot of research and reading as shock tuning is a fine art and you really get the best experience in what happens with certain adjustments by experience.

You mean motocross shops? I've never touched nitrogen with my mountain bikes. Just a hand pump for the shocks.

Icons shim stacks can be changed like other shocks. Piston itself is always going to be more digressive based on design. I've only started to tear into my crawler shocks, so I won't offer any advice.

The old 7.3 powerstroke was much better than these newer ones but it still had it's downfalls with fueling and bumping up the power easily compared to the cummins. The old v8 2 stroke Detroit diesels are pretty sick gobs of power and have one wicked sound when turned up and making some power.

    Yeah motorcross/street bikes.
I'm speaking from experience with race shocks for round track and road racing. I've never torn into an Icon or the like so I don't know how much you can actually play with them. But it's a big rabbit hole once you start down that path.

Oh I believe it! I can't imagine it's a simple thing to just do and be done.

Right now, in addition to seat time, I need to take out that expo pack and out the AAL in, and get all the shocks charged to their factory settings. I still haven't aligned, and the front settled to 23" FL and 22.75" FR.

I still have some work to do to get the install 100%.

I picked up new hardware today to put the leafs together since the old stuff was corroded.

Super stoked to see what I can get into next weekend. I plan on pushing it without the risk of damage, if that makes sense.

So are you going to keep the expo pack as well? Is it your stock leaf pack with an AAL?

There is always the risk of damage I caught my driveshaft on a rock at URE this past sun. Didn't have the rear tires lined up well tried bumping it up a ledge rear got kicked over and hit the flange and the shaft. Part of the problem is my wheel base when it comes to that stuff. But it is what it is nothing a little $$$ can't fix. I'll probably disconnect it to go down there then just hook it back up when I get there.

The expo pack is way too stout for my truck. I can sit on the tailgate and it'll drop half inch. It lifted the rear probably 5 inches. I think that makes the front and rear very unbalanced as far as spring rates and all that. Once the AAL goes in I can really start to dial everything in where I want it up front too.

You're going to drive all the way there in 4wd (fwd)? Sounds like that was a pretty good hit you took.

With my new job $$ is a little nicer but my version of fun and my wife's aren't the same so it's a game of trying to sneak truck stuff in and not hurt her goals.

Shit yeah why not! Naw but a little dent and probably knocked the weight off I got some vibrations and too much vribrating at hwy speeds it could grenade a u-joint and destroy the carrier bearing. Which all those things probably should be replaced anyways.

Just looked it up on the gram that black t4r looks like the dude I met and picked up some ARB awning brackets from for Johnny. Crazy said road gave out but it looks plenty wide right there. Maybe not paying attention and too close to the edge.

Yeah I’m not sure. You can see there’s trucks all around the road assisting in the recover. So I’m thinking overland picture taking
