    ^dat head sail tho

Edit: just noticed it’s an 84!? And eighty fucking four!? That a very clean looking boat for being that old. Was it stored in a climate controlled barn for its whole life?

Second edit: boom vang, job sheets, downhaul? All blue line? -3 points
    Need more variety

    :p

Are those Utah plates? Where do you sail at? Hopefully bear lake. I wanna drag my pile down there for a few races

Do you actually back that down a ramp to launch? I've always wondered how you launch this type of boat. It'd have to get deep real quick!

I would be very skeptical if there was a ramp deep enough or if he had a trailer extension long enough to get the boat floating. Probably with a marina crane and the keel guide on the trailer is to help the crane slot it in place so the keel is on its support. Though there are ramps and custom built hydraulic semi trailers built to pick 45’ boats out of the water like a regular boat ramp so depending where he’s sailing it’s possible

I have a very similar setup to him, I have a marina pull mine off with a sling and drop it in. I don’t think I could trailer launch even with a tongue extension.

Haha. Yeah, I basically have had to use the best lines I have as I've updated the layout. I think have some green I can use for the Cunningham.

I bought the boat 2 years ago. It had been on the hard at the Great Salt Lake for 2 years before that. The interior was perfect and had a bunch of new lines. Over the last 2 years we've re-done the bottom and deck and some bulkhead work, and this season we got a new main, AP #1 and VMG kite. It's been fun for sure!

We have the boat at Bear Lake for the summer. We'll take her down to Jordanelle for Sail Park City's Fall Regatta. Hit me up if you ever come down!

No kidding. I taught sailing for about 12 years. The last few at Olympic Circle Sailing Club (OCSC) in Berkeley.

We dry sail the boat a use a tow strap on the ramp. We have it down to about a 10 minute process...

back the trailer to the water, chock the wheels, attach tow strap on truck and trailer, un-hitch trailer, drive truck up ramp to take out slack, remove chalks, back up, float boat off.

Do you step the mast by hand? I used to do that with a Santana 20. Gotta be a little more work with a 25. Fun boats those Capri. A buddy of mine had a Capri 30. Very fast boat. We raced the crap outta that thing in the Channel Islands area, here in California.

We can step the mast by hand but it's a chore. Luckily the marinas around here have booms at the tops of utility poles with hand cranks so me and the wife can step the mast. The boat is in a mast-up storage area though. It's a great boat. We've won our share of hardware over the last 2 seasons. In light air we kill. In heavy air we can scoot as long as we have some rail meat.

Awesome! Ya im gunning to make it down for the womens race in august, told my GF the boats hers, pick your crew lol. I'd like to do one more but we'll see.

I was almost going to be surprised if there were many ramps long enough but i know bear lake has some big boats, and realized I was under estimating the boat ramps.

I would be so afraid of making it on the qualified captain instagram pulling that move. We looked like a bunch of idiots first launch last weekend tho. When I put the boat back on the trailer after bottom paint it was sitting about a foot further forward and higher than usual. I didnt register the difference and we took my friends truck to the lake (it tows better) and its a low, stock height sierra. We had the bumper under water and it was getting close to the lights and the stern was floating but the bow wouldnt come off. She was pretty nervous about flooding the truck. We tried reverse bumping it, full throttle reverse, my buddy and I tried standing on the trailer and lifting and pushing it off...nothing. Eventually I told her we can't line it up to get it back on (total lie haha) and she had to back up another foot very quickly just to get it to float. Finally she agreed and pushed it back enough i could drive it off. The spectators clapped and I felt like a moron. When its on the trailer normally or if its my truck, that sits about a foot taller than hers its a very quick launch. That time, we were those people.

I’ve been sailing a handful of times and love every minute of it. Don’t own a boat but a buddy has a 34’ Tartan (1984ish I think) that we’ve taken out in the Chesapeake. Even helped crew for a tri services regatta that we won!

Well after ordering a new Jib last fall
It’s here going to test it out tomorrow. Guess I’ll find out if 3DI lives up to the hype.

Well first race with the 3DI sail. Got 1st beating out 2 well sailed J105s by more than a minute. So the shape holding is great, guesss I can get back to you on longevity in 3-5 years. Light wind about 10 or so max speed with the kite was 8.1 knots.
