I'd be careful with this unless you're using a vacuum specifically made to deal with combustibles and is explosion proof/rated.

Probably unlikely but if enough gas gets in the oil you're gonna have a bad time of it's a final destination scenario.

Now we need someone to make a 3d printed adapter to screw in and hold shop vac hose. Trying this next time for sure.

Who needs a 3d printer get an extra filler cap drill and duct tape the hose to it or epoxy/glue that sum b**ch to it.

Good shit! Anyone try changing a filter like this? Filter is often the messier part.

That approach with a filter would still be a mess.

yea good point, also I didn't mention 2 things in my post 1) the shop-vac he used was a big-boy, not my 5-gallon vac in my garage 2) the possibility that all that dirt inside the shop-vac COULD end up in your engine if things went horribly wrong... careful out there

I use one vinyl glove to change my oil and stay clean.

Is a lot faster than draggin the vac out, finding the extension cord, empty the vac, finding a new vac filter since one in it is ripped from cleaning it and oops all the oil went on the ground because the dam thing tipped over and the ball blocked the flow of air. Yeah this method sucks and not in a good way

And here's my personal beef with the Shop-Vac brand. I had the really nice stainless tub, super duper, double throw me down Shop-Vac. I took the filter out to vac up a bunch of water. Afterwards, I dried it all out and put it away. Sometime later, I needed to vac up a bunch of gravel. As soon as I start, I hear a horrible rattling, clanking sound. Upon inspection, I find that the aluminum fan is destroyed. I call up Shop-Vac to order a replacement fan. Nope, they only sell the entire lid assembly... For more than the price of a whole new vac. So, I started looking for a brand that I could buy individual parts for. I ended up buying a Ridgid brand stainless tub, super duper, double throw me down vac, with a full breakdown of all the parts right there in the manual.

The last time I had a leaky drain plug gasket I replaced the drain plug and the gasket. I used the two hand method pulling the old one out with my left hand and putting the new one in with my right. It worked so good that I only lost about 2 ounces of oil with only a little on my hands.
