Depends on what is important to you. The LT’s have deeper tread and C load at the expense of added cost and weight. The 4S appears to have some added winter performance and lower weight. However, looking at the tread details listed on Copper’s website, the LT has all the features of the 4S. I can’t tell for certain if the 4S has a different rubber compound vs. the LT.

For me, I decided the weight of the LT wasn’t a big enough difference (4 lbs/tire) and the added tread and C load were worth it. I went LT. Also, @Discount Tire Direct gave me a sweet deal on them by beating other advertised prices so that made it even easier to decide between the 4S and LT. Tires show up tomorrow and get installed Friday.

The primary reason I went 4S was comfort for the family. My main concern was that the stiffer tire would ride rougher which would impact how much I could get my wife and daughter to let us take the Taco on trips. As of now my wife loves riding in the truck and with a bit softer tire aired to 30-32 + even the stock OR suspension it rides relatively smooth. Wouldn't be shocked if the LTs also ride smooth and soft though. Maybe I'll try those out next time ;)

If you shop around you should be able to get the LT’s in 265/75/R16 for about $575 without certs and $640 with certs. Then you’ll have install cost on top of that.

Thanks again for the info, really don't want the certs, so I'll try for $575 + install, but most online places are charging tax to PA and the physical locations will too, of course.

Looks like DTD has my size in LT for $150 each, I'll have to get 5 since changing the spare to a size up with these.

Luckily I don’t have a wife and kids at 17 so a harsh ride isn’t an issue haha, plus my mom is too short to get into my truck (even before the lift) so it’s really just me and my friends

    Now I think about it...

I might end up going with the 255/75/17 4S for the daily Tacoma and 255/80/17 ST Maxx for the 4Runner on the trails

Between the new at3 4s, lt and xlt...if you were using the truck to haul or tow a lot which would be the best option? I'm guessing the 4s because of lower weight? And then you could just add air...but the others have tougher sidewall.

I would think the LT or XLT. The heavier sidewall and higher pressures are designed for the heavier loads of towing hauling.

XLT would be best especially in E load, but they are some heavy ass tires. LT’s would do just fine but im sure most wouldn’t recommend the 4S for towing heavy

Just ordered a set at my local America’s Tire, went with 265/75/16 LT’s. They should be early next week!

265/75/R16’s LT’s arrived on schedule. Install tomorrow 10:30 am MDT. Need to get a 5th for the spare, going to see if local DT is willing to deal on an old style AT3 and give some credit for my unused spare wrangler.

Do they have the snow flake symbol?

No snowflake. But it does have the “M + S” on it. Unless the 4S uses a different rubber compound, the LT tread has every feature the 4S does and a deeper tread.

My guess is it’s a different compound that’s softer and stickier in snow but otherwise tread is the exact same aside from the depth

That makes it a tough choice... snow flake symbol or LT.
