Angled Washers - CB Antenna Ditch Mount

I don't know the best location to place this question, so I'll see if I can get a reply here.

I've got a pair of CBI ditch light brackets for my truck. Currently I'm only using the driver's side for a CB antenna mount for my Firestik. I'm working through some grounding issues, but that's independent to my question here.

Due to the angle of the bracket my CB mount is slightly crooked in that the antenna cocks forward and to be honest, looks a bit goofy. I'm thinking if I drop down to a 3' Firestik over the 4' I have it will be a little less obvious, and I don't anticipate using the radio enough for this to be an issue regardless.

That being said, any ideas on how to get the antenna to sit straight. I was thinking if I used a pair of angled washers in the same orientation, I'd be able to get it to sit at the correct angle and still be able to tighten down the antenna and get a solid ground. However, I don't even know where to start to find angled washers. A quick search on Amazon shows 30 degree ones, but I can tell that would be entirely too much tilt back towards the rear of the truck.

I'm reluctant to try to bend the bracket a it's a VERY stout piece. I like the hood bracket as I don't have to worry about using a NGP antenna and mess with the tonneau. I had a NGP antenna with a bed mount on the last truck and I could never get a good SWR / connection.

Could you slide a washer under the front of the bracket where it mounts to the truck, to tilt the whole bracket to the back? If so, you can probably adjust the tilt with different thickness washers. Might need a longer bolt depending on how much thickness you have to add.

Even better idea. Just shim the mount level. You can also buy shims from McMaster . Or a simple washer will due.

 

Yeah. I look up stuff on McMaster all the time. There prices are usually high and shipping prices are high too, but if they have what you want/need, and you don't want to shop around they're great.

Fastenal is another good place to search for hardware. They've got brick and mortar stores you can go to as well.
