Yea I’m sure they want to talk to the tanker who filled it before the gm takes any blame. Wonder how many other vehicles filled up there?

I guess that is why you can never get a receipt at the gas pumps. I guess your credit card would have the time and date of the purchase but maybe I will start going inside, waiting around 23 minutes, and getting my receipts.

It's a pretty big truck stop/ gas station in a stretch of road with nothing around for a long while so I'd imagine a lot.

They have surveillance cameras as well so depends how far you want to take it to get evidence you know.

I called them about 45 mins after my fill up while waiting on the tow to tell them I had a potential issue.

No shit. Thats kind of interesting / good to know that it can run through at least a bit of contamination. Wonder why they didn't mention that in any of the episodes (or I forgot..)

If it does turn out that the station had diesel pumped into the tank, I hate to be the trucker or the delivery company who made this mistake. That’s gonna be a hefty bill for all the vehicles that are fucked up and for the draining, and cleaning of the tank, pump and lines. Plus the cost of the diesel they dumped in and any gas that was still in the tank that they spoiled.

No one wins in this situation. Well except for maybe the guy was who gonna stop to get gas there but the line was too long so he went across the street lol

I would assume there would be some sort of failsafe mechanism in place for truckers not to be able to do this. Like different connection sizes so you physically couldn't do it. Something simple like that would prevent huge issues. Very interested so see the final outcome.

I put 5 gallons of gas in my 2007 Dodge diesel 35 gallon tank. ( just not paying attention ) Per my mechanic, I added 1/2 quart of 2 stroke oil to it. It ran fine.

From what I have seen... nope. They use different colored ground caps for the tanks, but some trucks are multi fuel haulers and others are single fuel. You can usually tell by the number of discharges below the tanker belly. Most only have two hose holders, so that is a limiter right there. Since this is a big fuel stop (per op), I could see this being a single source fuel truck who put it in the wrong tank. It also could be tank intrusion or even some sort of contamination. It happens. Just hope OP gets it sorted quick and painlessly.

That makes sense. "I knew a guy" that used his mother's vegetable oil in his two stroke moped. :bikewheelie2: Rode
around the neighborhood smelling like someones kitchen was on fire.

Agreed. Op’s Receipt says regular unleaded so it wasn’t his mistake. If dealer is claiming they think it’s diesel, than that leaves only the trucker. I doubt they even looked at it yet, they are probably just making an assumption. Even popping off the filler cap you should be able to smell the diesel

Don't be too quick to blame the trucker. It's possible he could do everything right but someone that filled the tanker at the hub mixed up fuels.

    I guess that’s true

But you’d think knowing if he was suppose to be pumping gas he would of smelt diesel and thought hey this ain’t right

We should find out soon enough

Maybe maybe not. The tanker hoses lock onto the in-ground tank fillers to prevent vapors coming out and debris getting in the tanks. I fuel lots of vehicles weekly for work and unless I'm sticking my nose right down in the filler neck, I normally don't smell the gas or diesel. Supposedly EPA regs make stations have vapor 'recovery' systems so that smells and vapors don't bother people and don't get in atmosphere

Could be the case for some areas or gas stations but its probably not standardized- yet.
